The Massachusetts House of Representatives is comprised of 160 members, each representing a district of approximately 40,000 people and each elected for a two-year term. As required by the Massachusetts Constitution, the House meets year-round in either formal or informal sessions to consider legislation. The Massachusetts House is led by the Speaker of the House who is elected by the members of the body at the beginning of each two-year legislative session. Base salary for each representative is approximately $66,256.

Equitable and expanse access to voting will close the gap between wealthy communities and communities of color and low-income communities, election day voter registration or same day registration will accomplish this. An Act Fostering Voting Opportunities, Trust, Equity, and Security, or the VOTES Act, filed by my colleague, John Lawn, and which I support.
The legislature enacted and implemented policies roadmap to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 and I was proud to cast my vote in support.

For FY25 we allocated robust funding for our environmental and energy agencies, directing $579.9M to the EEA secretariat and its agencies and departments, a $16.1M (2.9%) increase above FY24 GAA and a $1.2M (0.2%)
The Legislature passed the Affordable Homes Act, the largest housing investment in Massachusetts history and a powerful first step in tackling the state’s housing affordability crisis. We authorized a $5.16 billion in bond authorizations and tax credits to spur housing production in Massachusetts, while implementing sweeping policy initiatives to facilitate the development of affordable housing and preserve public housing in Massachusetts. I was proud to speak in support of the Affordable Homes Act legislation at a public hearing and even prouder to vote on the floor in support of the final bill. Governor is signing the bill today, August 6, 2024.
Language access programs which I was able to secure in earmarks for my district.
Job training is another measure, with skills training and employment assistance. In my district I work closely with the Greater Lowell MassHire, the International Institute of New England, Cambodian Mutual Assistance Association, Community Teamwork Inc, the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition, to name a few.
Legal Assistance. I was proud to vote in support of increasing funding for MLAC line item and other measures, and it’s one of the Massachusetts Progressive Caucus’ priorities which I am a proud member.
Food assistance, housing and education assistance.
I was proud to vote in support of the $250 million for the Commonwealth Transportation Fund (CTF), which will leverage additional borrowing capacity of the CTF and increase investments in transportation infrastructure by $1.1 billion over the next 5 years.
In Lowell, enhancing the LRTA bus system by providing reduced fare programs and free fare and extending hours. I work closely with the team at LRTA to ensure that Lowell provides safe, affordable and accessible transportation. Some of the priorities include:
Pedestrian and cyclist friendly infrastructure
Parking availability for downtown
Statewide: repairs and modernization of our infrastructure
Road safety and reducing congestion
Transportation equity & accessibility for gateway cities
