2024 Register of Deeds Berkshire Northern District

Massachusetts is divided into 21 registry districts, each with an elected Register of Deeds who serves for a six-year term. Budget constraints are always an issue and a concern. Without an adequate budget, the Registry cannot progress. I also feel that the want for everything to be handled with speed and impersonal technology is also a challenge. The integrity of legal documents is becoming compromised for the mere purpose of trying to get as much done as one can. This applies to everywhere in the world. It should be about quality not quantity/accuracy not speed. The use of impersonal technology leaves the door open to fraud. While so many IT safeguards are put in place there still leaves questions to be had.
My priorities remain the same as they have been. I will continue to maintain an efficient and transparent office. Personal, customer service to everyone is something I strive for and I take pride in. Whether it's in person, over the phone, through email or however anyone reaches out to this office, my team and I will work with that person/for that person.

I will continue to bring the Northern Berkshire Registry forward.
While our office does not have resources for non English speaking individuals, we will work closely with anyone that reaches out on their behalf. As far as people without reliable access to the internet, this office is more than available by a personal visit or by calling us. We will provide 100 percent customer service either way. We will assist with any questions or concerns and provide you with any documentation that you may need . If you choose to request something by mail we will process your request promptly and efficiently. USPS mail may not be as fast as email but it still gets the job done, the way it used to be. There is something to be said about the way things used to be.
The changes I would make are the same changes I have been doing. My staff and I work everyday to get our records accessible, on-line, for public access. It's a process but we continue to make it happen. I am always open to anyone that may have a request for specific services. I will do my best to provide the services other Registries may perform if it is at all possible. I am always willing to have a conversation.
I would like the voters to know that I love the Northern Berkshire Registry of Deeds. I have been working in this office since 1997. It's not just what I do, it's what I love to do. I take my position very seriously and have the utmost respect for all my colleagues and the professionals I have met and had the opportunity to work with. I love to have people visit the Registry and always enjoy an opportunity to engage in conversation or listen to their stories. There is so much history in our books and records. Everyday is a learning experience, even after so many years. I am grateful and humbled for all the support I have received and want to continue to be your Northern Berkshire Register of Deeds.
