Two primary goals:
Education - Continue to improved teacher retention with competitive compensation package, while improving literacy.
Property Taxes - Reduce property taxes by shifting a portion of sales tax revenues from the State to Local Governments.
I have been an elected official from 1994 - present. 5 terms as a city councilman, including 6 years as Mayor of Twin Falls. In 2012, I was elected to represent District 24 and have served for 10 years on the Business, Local Government and Education Committees. I have been Charman of the House Education committee for the past four years. My business experience in Banking (20 years) and as a personal financial advisor (20 years) provides a solid base for understanding individual personal and financial challenges.
Population growth and housing inflation are impacting the everyday citizen and the ability of the local and state government to continue to provide proper service and maintain our infrastructure. A balance of fiscal control and revenue increases can deal with the growth, but individuals tax burdens must be taken into consideration.
With nearly 30 years of public service, my record should demonstrate my attention to detail, responsiveness with citizens and overall conservative approach to addressing the needs of our citizens. We cannot address all the wants, but we need to address the basic services and demands on public services.
