What are the principal issues for the City Clerk and how would you deal with them?
• Continuous resident of Wheat Ridge since July 1991 – 28 happy years and counting.
• 46 years of business experience, including banking on Wall Street and owning small business right here in Colorado.
• Four university degrees, including a Ph.D. in behavioral science – specializing in organizational leadership.
• Entrepreneur – manager in 9 start-up businesses, 8 of which still operate.
• Experience working with government agencies, ranging from the Pentagon to Eagle County and the County Sheriffs of Colorado.
• Experience as precinct organizer.
As I have walked the City two key issues have emerged related to the role of the City Clerk: growth and business friendliness.
The City Clerk must remain impartial and transparent with respect to any civic issue, because the Clerk is Election Commissioner.
A City Clerk who takes position on any issue runs the risk of appearing to have a conflict of interest. The Clerk should operate impartially, like a baseball umpire.
As City Clerk, I will follow the law arduously, without fear or favor.
The City of Wheat Ridge exerts great efforts to make our City a business-friendly place.
As a business owner and former executive, I understand how businesspeople think.
Every minute spent on transactions with the City is a minute small businesspeople cannot use to deliver value, or market and sell.
I will apply my knowledge and skill in business processes whenever and wherever possible.
In short, as City Clerk I will bring a business-friendly mindset to the Office of City Clerk.
Associate degree in executive secretarial. My career was as an office manager. I have volunteered within the City of Wheat Ridge as a Planning Commissioner, secretary of the Grange, client funds manager with Wheat Ridge Community Foundation, and Feed the Future weekend snacks program. I enjoy organization, multi tasking, transparency, and have a strong work ethic.

As an unbiased position within the City, the Clerk must preserve for history the City Council and Study Session minutes with accuracy.
This is the work that is mostly in the public view. And so it is necessary for the minutes to be readable and understandable.
The 10 other duties of the City Clerk are custodian of the seal of the city; to certify by signature, all ordinances and resolutions; to administer oaths of office; be the chairperson of the Election Commission; to publish all notices, proceedings, and other matters; to supervise the staff under Clerk jurisdiction; to administer and maintain liquor and amusement license; to process applications for volunteer Boards and Commissions; to be Clerk to the Police Pension Board; and to coordinate fulfillment of Public Information requests.
City clerk performs duties for the citizens and that requires transparency and service to all citizens.
