38th Judicial District (Montgomery County)
I have recused myself from cases in the course of my career. While each instance must be evaluated individually under the recusal guidelines, as a general rule, recusal should occur when there is an actual conflict of interest OR where my continued involvement would create a reasonable perception of a lack of fairness.
As President Judge, I have instituted numerous reforms to make the Court system more understandable to individuals without counsel. Most every form is written in plain language and easily accessible.
Additionally we have developed a series of specialty courts to assist those individuals with unique problems, such as Veterans, those facing foreclosure, and those with mental health issues, to name a few.
I frequently do community outreach to educate citizens about the Court and their rights.
