I am running for Mayor in hopes of continued growth and to keep our city moving forward. I would also like to be involved and see the completion of a few projects such as the resurfacing of Pearl Road. Included in this project will be the installation of a new crosswalk and a decorative median which will be located on the residential portion of Pearl Road. I'm also determined to continue researching and aggressively pursuing opportunities to strengthen city services, safety forces, assistance for seniors, expansion of recreational opportunities for residents of all ages and support for our local businesses.
I hope to continue to establish public-private partnerships and to continue to build regional partnerships with surrounding communities. Shared services, equipment, and even employees can benefit all of us. Our successful regional cooperation agreements include: recreation center agreements with the cities of Brooklyn and Brook Park, the Parma Regional Dispatch Center, Parma Auxiliary Police unit and major crimes investigation unit, and the North Royalton jail. An example of a successful public-private partnership is the addition of Colombo Park along the Pearl Road corridor.
There are numerous challenges facing the City of a Parma Heights. However, the biggest is generating new revenue streams. Over the last few years, all communities in Ohio have been faced with significant reductions to our budgets from State of Ohio cuts to the Local Government Fund and elimination of the estate tax. Maintaining high quality services and expanding the programs we offer residents is compounded by the need to improve infrastructure (streets, sewers, bridges) and make capital purchases such as police and fire vehicles as well as equipment for our Service Department.
