I have been an attorney since 1988. I am licensed in Ohio and Florida. My public service includes 21 years as a full-time Assistant Prosecuting Attorney and 4 years as an Assistant Attorney General. I have also done criminal defense work and volunteered at a Public Defender’s Office. Most cases do not reach trial. However, I estimate that I have tried 70 cases to verdict, judgment or final decision. These cases include felonies, misdemeanors, civil cases and appeals. In my time as a lawyer, I have served as an arbitrator. I have practiced in many of the local Municipal Courts, Common Pleas Courts in many counties, multiple State Courts of Appeals, Federal District Courts, the Federal Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Ohio Supreme Court. I taught a public records seminar to approximately 100 law enforcement employees when the Ohio Supreme Court awarded $860,000.00 to two employees when an Akron City supervisor destroyed their work records. I have coached high school mock trial for the last 20 years for Willoughby South High School and for one year for Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin. The Willoughby South team has advanced to the state championships. I have been a guest lecturer on criminal law at Lake Erie College for the last three years. I have also lectured occasionally at Willoughby South High School. I have never been held in contempt or had any ethical issues. Read more at
I have been blessed with intelligence and have worked hard to hone my legal skills. I have handled many criminal and civil cases. I want to use my talents and skills to help the community of Euclid. As a full-time assistant prosecutor for over 20 years, I learned firsthand the impact that crime has on families and neighborhoods. I sought a career as a public servant and have served the public as an attorney since 1992. I have dedicated my career to serving and helping communities. As a Euclid resident for 20 years, I understand the challenges facing our community and the opportunities that exist in our Municipal Court to impact Euclid in a positive way. I want to continue this service as Euclid Municipal Court Judge. I understand and embrace the fact that, as Euclid Municipal Court Judge, my role would include more than meets the eye. I am prepared to balance the need to address each criminal defendant in a manner appropriate to the circumstances with treating alleged victims with compassion. I intend to utilize my skills to be appropriately punitive when necessary as well as seeking to foster rehabilitation. I will treat everyone at the court with basic respect. Much like elsewhere across the country, Euclid has become somewhat divided due to differing reactions to interactions between white police officers and black men. Read more at

Acting Judge, Euclid Municipal Court (2016-present); Arbitrator, Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court (2000-present)
I have been practicing attorney for 27+ years. My experience includes conducting jury trials in various Ohio Municipal Courts, Ohio Common Pleas Courts and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. I have argued appellate cases before the Eighth District Court of Appeals, the Ohio Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. I served as Criminal Prosecutor for the City of Euclid for eleven (11) years from January, 2005 to February, 2016. During my tenure as Prosecutor, I prosecuted approximately 8,000 criminal and traffic cases which included hundreds of evidentiary hearings, preliminary hearings in felony matters, bench trials and jury trials. A prosecutor’s duty is to achieve justice, not merely to convict. As Prosecutor, I believe I acted in accordance with that duty and demonstrated fair judgment and temperament in my prosecutorial decisions. As Prosecutor, I worked with the Euclid Municipal Court to establish a First Offender Program which allows individuals the opportunity to avoid criminal records while still being held accountable for their criminal conduct. An individual with no criminal record is more employable than an individual with a criminal record.

I also worked with the Court to establish a program to assist individuals in obtaining valid drivers’ licenses. Read more at
I have been a resident of Euclid for 53 years. I am committed to its success and well-being. I am running for Judge of the Euclid Municipal Court because I am the most qualified candidate and best-suited to improve the Court. After serving eleven (11) years as Euclid Prosecutor, I now serve as Acting Judge for the Euclid Municipal Court. Based upon this experience, I am fully prepared to perform the duties of this office on the very first day of the term. I will work to expand Court and Probation services to address substance abuse, mental health issues, education requirements and employment services. I will work with mental health professionals, substance abuse professionals, other Municipal Courts, the Common Pleas Court ad the Cuyahoga County Administration to establish best practices and best resources to achieve these goals. Probation services could be enhanced through regionalization. I will also work to improve the Court’s technology to enhance communication with individuals involved with the Court. I believe technology can be improved so that Court is able to issue notices and reminders by email and text message. Too many arrest warrants are issued because individuals simply forget about their Court appearances and their Court obligations. Even short periods of incarceration can lead to the loss of employment.
