Biographical Information

Please provide biographical information and explain why you are running for City office and relevant qualities and skills you would bring to the position.

What are the top 3 Priority Issues that the city should address and what actions would you take regarding each of them?

My wife, Melinda, and I have lived in Rochester Hills for over 14 years. We are the proud parents of twin sons, Jack and Brennan, who attend Rochester Community Schools.

I have a bachelor of arts from Michigan State University and a juris doctor from Wayne State University Law School. I have been an attorney for 16 years and am the judicial staff attorney for the chief judge of the Oakland County Probate Court.

I am active in our community and have a record of public service. I am the vice president of the Rochester Hills Public Library Board. I was appointed to the Library Board in 2014 and elected to serve a full term in 2015. I am a member of the Rochester Hills Building Authority and the president of the Arcadia Park Homeowners Association.

I am a member of the Friends of the Rochester Hills Public Library, Oakland County Bar Association and the State Bar of Michigan.

As an attorney and with my record of community involvement, I have the skills and experience necessary to work with the mayor and city council to keep Rochester Hills moving in the right direction.
We live in a thriving community filled with wonderful people, safe neighborhoods, fantastic amenities and dedicated public servants. We need to keep Rochester Hills on the right track by focusing on the following:

1) FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY: As we recover from the economic recession, it is important to continue to build our fund balance, reduce expenses by collaborating with local stakeholders to secure private funding and invest in our infrastructure (roads, parks, green spaces and water system).

2) PUBLIC SAFETY: We need to continue to be vigilant and look for innovative ways to keep residents safe by consistently evaluating the effectiveness of police and fire services.

3) QUALITY OF LIFE: Rochester Hills is a vibrant and prosperous city. We need to keep up the momentum by continuing to attract and retain businesses in high-growth sectors. This will drive property values up and keep unemployment low. We also need to continue to invest in the things our residents love, like our parks, trails and green spaces.
I was born and raised in Berkley Michigan, I decided after the floods of 2014 to move to the Hills, Rochester Hills. I bought my first home in Rochester Hills because of its incredible reputation. I am extremely proud to call Rochester Hills my home. Why Rochester Hills? Well, it’s the premier city to, live, work, and raise a family. And I want to do just that. I’m running for City Council to give the residents in District 4 a voice that they can count on. I’m a passionate people person, who has blue collar work ethics and demands the best foot forward from my-self. I believe that the passion I learned from the community I grew up in, makes me the strongest person for that position to relate to the residents. I don’t just talk the talk but I’ve walked the walk. Literally, I have walked thousands of miles in my 15-year career as a corporate Security Officer.
Safety - Enhanced programs to secure our safety for the streets and business. I would like to suggest a program involving the residents for a police and fire academy that would emphasize the job that the men and women provide and the respect they deserve. Call it a Citizens Academy.

Parks - Rochester Hills has one of the best park and trail systems in the state, which I use quiet often! We need to make sure they stay that way but enhance those gems for not just not just for us but future generations. Emergency phones, and trails camera are just one way we can enhance our park safety. Many of our residents and their family would love enhancing our parks with a splash pad, and a bark park really can make those summer day at the parks truly refreshing.

Infrastructure - Clean water, steady power grid, a drainage system, and roads need to remain updated to handle the growing community that Rochester Hills has become. I would like to see that engineers and city officials work together to find innovative ways innovative ways to provide cost effective solutions and quarterly town halls logo
