I am 44 years old, married to my wife Leslie for 21 years, a resident of Rochester Hills since 2000, and have two children in Rochester Community Schools. I have an engineering degree from MSU, an MBA from U of M and served as a nuclear power submarine officer in the US Navy. I have been employed at TE Connectivity for over 16 years and currently supervise a global sales team that is responsible for over $60 million revenue. I was elected to City Council in 2013 and have served on a variety of committees: OPC, RAYA, Water/Sewer, Liquor License, and Strategic Planning. I am seeking re-election because I believe that my military background, professional experience and service on Council has prepared me to make sound decisions on behalf of the residents, conservatively manage the cities finances, and foster an environment that will attract residents and businesses to Rochester Hills. I have been proud to contribute to the award-winning success of Rochester Hills and ask that the residents give me the honor and opportunity to continue to serve as their At Large Representative.
Financial Stability – The 3-year budget cycle and long-term conservative financial planning is the key to enable our local government to continue to provide the services that our residents deserve. Maintaining a sound fund balance ensures that we can continue municipal operations without placing any additional tax burden on our residents.
Security and Safety – Rochester Hills owes a debt of gratitude to those that serve in our local Oakland County Sheriff’s Department and the Rochester Hills Fire Department. We must continue to monitor the staffing, equipment and service levels of both departments to ensure our residents are safe and have the best possible response time for emergency services.
Attracting Businesses/Residents – Rochester Hills should continue to look for creative ways to attract new businesses/employers and further invest in the quality of life amenities our residents enjoy - quality local roads, new parks, Green Space, and our trails. Our residents and corporations make this community great and we owe them the best quality of life experience we can offer.
My service to my country began when I joined the US Navy in 2002. I was a medic for Marine Corps and Navy members and families at Camp Pendleton in California. My husband Nathan and I moved back to Rochester Hills in 2008 to raise our family. We have 3 kids in Rochester schools. I earned my Bachelors of Science and Masters of Public Administration from Oakland University. While at OU I was recruited to work for the Food and Drug Administration as a public safety investigator, keeping our food and drug supply safe.
City Council nominated me to the Rochester Hills Public Safety and Infrastructure Technical Committee in 2016 and I have already hired 4 firefighters and 2 police officers at no additional cost to the tax payers. I have also reworked a special assessment district to make it more fiscally sustainable to the residents. If I can achieve this while on a City Committee, imagine what I can do on City Council!
I am running for Rochester Hills City Council because I am passionate about making our local government reflect the values of the people who live here.
Represent the residents of Rochester Hills.
Greater transparency and access for our residents to their local government through personal outreach with the community.
Advocate for county and state funding to improve the quality of life for our residents including for critical infrastructure repair, parks and greenspaces.
Ensure the growth in our city represents the best interests of our residents and not just the business community.
Prioritize public safety including fire and police.
