Biographical Information

Please provide biographical information and explain why you are running for City office and relevant qualities and skills you would bring to the position.

What are the top 3 Priority Issues that the city should address and what actions would you take regarding each of them?

I am a life-long Clawson resident, graduating from Clawson High School in 1982. My husband and I, along with our three children, live in the home where I grew up. I’ve watched my children shine at Schalm, where my mother taught, and mature into adults at the middle and high schools. For the past four years I have served on Clawson’s City Council. I have worked diligently for the citizens of Clawson. I will acquire knowledge and skills to assist me in the decision making process. I am employed by a law firm in the Technology Department supporting an office in Bloomfield Hills and Washington, D.C. My position demands excellent problem solving and communication skills. Recently, someone said that the phrase, “Wouldn’t it be great if ” was the phrase they thought of when they thought of me. I will bring this attitude with me as Mayor of Clawson. I am committed to ensure that Clawson grows and develops by being a community, business and environmentally friendly city. Finally, I am passionate to maintain Clawson’s small town community atmosphere where anyone can make a difference
Provide more information and opportunity for questions regarding upcoming agenda items. I would change the Council Meeting format to add public discussion before each agenda item to ensure that residents are given the opportunity to ask additional questions and communicate any concerns that they may have. Continue developing informative and viewer friendly programming on the city’s cable channel. Continue to find strategic and creative solutions to ensure fiscal viability by encouraging city staff to look for grants and other partnerships allowing Clawson to improve and maintain its infrastructure reducing the community financial burden. Support a business friendly atmosphere to promote development throughout Clawson business districts. Implement policies and procedures within city departments and committees to provide information effectively and efficiently. This will include, but is not limited to, technology, on-line resources and informational literature. The goal is to educate individuals and allow for city business, when appropriate, during non-city-business hours. logo
