Why do you want to serve on the Board of Finance? What special qualifications and experience will you bring to the office? How will these assist you in providing solutions to the financial issues facing Fairfield?
Discuss three major financial issues facing the Town, and how you believe they should best be resolved.
I served on the RTM from 2013-2017 and in July was appointed to the BOF. I am running because I want to keep Fairfield a financially sound and desirable place to live and raise a family through careful fiscal planning and investment. We have a diverse economy with a strong business community, excellent schools and town amenities. I will fight to protect these assets and help our town to prosper by supporting our schools, libraries and services as well as expand Senior Tax Relief and economic development. Attracting businesses and increasing our grand list are key to maintaining affordability.
1. We face cuts in State aid. By carefully managing our finances through good fiscal stewardship we can maintain our schools and services without large tax increases or cutting services. Growing our grand list and increasing revenue are essential.
2. Fairfield needs to increase affordable housing and encourage economic development. We have to educate the public on the importance of investing in each so we can offer jobs and housing that keep us attractive and affordable.
3. Many of our schools require costly renovations. We need to maintain our AAA rating to lower the cost of borrowing money
