Saratoga County Sheriff since 2014. More than 30 years of law-enforcement experience serving as a deputy, sergeant, lieutenant, senior criminal investigator and now as sheriff with the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Zurlo has also served time on the bench as a respected Town Justice in the Town of Stillwater.
The two most critical issues facing the office today is the heroin/opioid issue and keeping our communities safe.
Heroin abuse and addiction are serious issues affecting every county across New York State. To deal with this serious issue we must stay focused with a strong proactive law –enforcement approach combined with community education and effective treatment programs. We will continue to work with civic and government leaders to host and attend community forums such as the Capital District Heroin Task Force Forum that focused on building community based solutions to overcome heroin and opioid abuse and addiction.
Community safety is my number one priority. To achieve this my administration will continue to promote training, pursue grant funding and technologies that will assist the men and women of the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office with their job in keeping our streets, schools and communities safe.
My primary goal as Sheriff will continue to keep our communities safe across Saratoga County. We will continue to expand the use of technology across the Sheriff's department to include expanding interoperability between neighboring counties and launching a state-of-the-art shared Computer Aided Dispatch and Mobile E-911 system that will decrease response times and help make communities safer. Additionally, my team will continue to work with community groups and elected officials to find solutions to the serious opioid abuse problem that has affected so many lives.
