At present, the most pressing issue is rising operational costs of the Town coupled with a Tax Cap. While there are many concurrent issues that a town faces, a town that cannot manage its financial obligations cannot provide other essential services that are expected of it. As a Town Councilman I will ensure that Bedford residents continue to enjoy the excellent services they deserve while remaining under the Tax Cap, like what I have done as a Commissioner of the Bedford Village Fire District.
I recognize the difficulties faced by people who wish to own homes in Bedford and I am supportive of the Town’s initiative through the Blue Mountain Development Corp. and Town Ordinances regarding fair housing to promote and increase the amount of affordable housing in Bedford. As a Town Councilman I will continue to support these long-standing initiatives.

I think working collaboratively and always trying for consensus without sacrificing core beliefs is essential. Working for the welfare and quality of life of all our residents is of primary importance. Housing, efforts towards slowing down the effects of climate change, being an inclusive and welcoming community for all, helping our elderly, and doing more with our infrastructure are among the goals we look to improve upon every day. We met these goals while staying within the tax cap.
Increasing a supply of fair and affordable housing is very important to me. The Town of Bedford has worked tirelessly in partnership with my church, Antioch Baptist to create 12 affordable housing units that will be available this fall. I was proud to support this project as a member of Antioch and the Town Board. A quality home should not be the exception.

More than a concern with a sole issue, I have a vision for the town: that Bedford remains vibrant through its commitment to environmental stewardship, small businesses, open spaces, quality services, affordable housing, and fiscal responsibility. Working hard to manage the Town's finances, Supervisor Burdick with support from MaryAnn Carr has been successful in staying within the tax cap while improving services and increasing fund balances. This is a path I hope to help Bedford continue on.
I am proud to be on a ticket with Chris Burdick and MaryAnn Carr, who have worked hard to bring much-needed affordable housing to Bedford, via a partnership with Antioch Baptist Church. In fact, the 12 new affordable housing units will be completed this fall.  I hope to join Chris and MaryAnn on the board, so that we can continue our commitment to making Bedford a place that people across the economic spectrum can call home.

The town of Bedford, has been pro-active with social issues, supported a wonderful recreation department, improved infrastructure, full time police force, protecting individuals rights and throughout has maintained a strong financial position. I think the most important challenge is to be able to keep all these agendas moving forward and still keep within our 2 percent tax hike. In order to do keep making Bedford better we will need to be creative with the money at hand.
I would like to see an increase in affordable housing in our community that can also be managed by Blue Mountain Development Corp. Affordable housing benefits everyone. Not only do the residents benefit but the whole community benefits. With affordable housing, residents can pay less on housing and can help grow the local economy and have a more stable home life. logo
