Greece Supervisor

The Town Supervisor is the chief executive officer of the town, similar to a city mayor. He/she is an elected official, serving a two-year term. The Supervisor sits as the presiding member of the Town Board, an elected body of four councilpersons who, along with the Supervisor, are responsible for the adoption of the annual budget, and for the adoption, enforcement and execution of all legislative actions of the Board. The Supervisor's responsibilities also include the preparation and recommendation of the annual budget, reports, information and material for Town Board action, as well as recommending amendments to the Town Code and ordinances when necessary. The Supervisor manages and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Town government, and is available to meet with residents to discuss topics of interest to them.

I along with my Town Board team have made many major improvements in town already. I have dedicated the last 4 years as Supervisor to enhancing up our parks, bringing new development to the Town of Greece and provided many new amenities for our residents and their families. All of our new amenities, including the spray park, town hall pavilion, new playground, new lodge, and of course our new police station are all vast improvements. And all were completed in town without raising taxes one cent.
The Town of Greece has more green space than any town in the County. In fact throughout my time in office we have actually added 30 acres of green space to our inventory (they were gifted to the town – so no cost to taxpayers) So in total Town owned open space and parks combined (green space) is 1,080 acres, Other green would be the Braddock Bay Fish and Wildlife management area though not owned by the town, it is also considered as green space. That area sits 2,600 acres. Canal Ponds Park though a County Park which resides in Greece and additionally is not owned by the town contributes significantly to our green space located within the Town of Greece.
Under my direction, the Town of Greece now has the most aggressive Zombie Home Legislation anywhere in the County. Because of our diligence, NYS recognized our efforts and we were awarded a $175,000 grant which allowed us to hire an additional code enforcement officer and continue our actions to be pro-active with our efforts. Each of our Code enforcement officers has a designated zone in town to monitor to try and keep ahead of the game with violations. I also developed a code enforcement court – this court time is dedicated to hearing enforcement issues, thus relieving our Code Enforcement Officers from having to sit through unrelated court cases and also to move the more serious issues to court faster, which results in getting violations corrected sooner. We are currently in the middle of a town master plan review. Our consultants have been working diligently on this arduous task and our Parks Master Plan and Sewer Master Plans had to be updated prior to this update.
We participate in many shared services opportunities with the County of Monroe. Since Greece does not have a village (which is where you will find most of the shared services opportunities) we work wherever possible to consolidate efforts to save our taxpayers money. Every Thursday the Monroe County Clerk’s office operates out of an area in Greece Town Hall at NO charge to issue passports. New this year we are working with the Gordian group. This partnership allows not only other towns in Monroe County but throughout most of the state (minus NYC) to take advantage of low bid pricing that is established through a motion of our town board after being carefully reviewed for best case pricing. This saves municipality’s time and money that would typically be spent in pursuing the lowest bidder on a variety of projects both large and small. Additionally, our Fire Marshall performs assistance to many other towns who seek his vast knowledge of fire safety rules and regulations.
The Town has recently begun the process to replace all of our light fixtures with LED lighting – new construction at Town Hall such as the police station; we had built to that specification. We are also in the process of converting the town-owned street lights to LED. Again, new tracks and developments are being installed with LED lighting upon installation. We try to reduce our carbon footprint whenever possible. Located on Town of Greece property is a newly installed solar farm. This environmentally friendly solar farm will offset a portion of our town’s annual electric bill. logo
