Whatcom Lynden Regional Park and Recreation District 3 Commissioner Position 1

4-year term; No salary A Parks & Recreation District is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the public parks and recreation facilities within their jurisdiction, as well as the acquisition of other parks space as funds provide and is appropriate. The commission sets the general policies and workplan of the district, which are implemented by the hired professional parks and recreation staff. One of commission's main duties is the adoption of the district's budget and proposal of any parks levies to be placed on the ballot to the people. The commission sets policies and approves all spending via the budget, whether for operations or capital items or public facility maintenance and improvements. The council also sets salaries for district employees.

Experience (300 characters max) I have held positions of park volunteer, tournament director, Board Member, Coordinator, Coach, Chapter Management VP, Water Association Vice President, Foreman, Supervisor, QAQC Supervisor.
The simple answer is to help my community. I strongly believe I have the skills required to fill this position. I am more than happy to serve in this role.
Funding is a major issue facing our parks and rec board with funding issues comes strategic planning and a Master Plan.
Funding and the Master plan go hand in hand.
My 25+ years of community service, involvement with the city of Lynden Parks department, Lynden Youth Sports, Whatcom County Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCA, AAU Basketball organizations and Century Water Association VP has helped to make me a great candidate for this position. I will give freely of my time to our community, board members and city, county and state officials. My communication with the many Citizens of Lynden have proven that I am well motivated to serve our community. I will act as the eyes and ears of our citizens while serving the Lynden Parks & Rec commission. I have over 35 years employment in the industrial construction and maintenance industry, 22 plus years have been in the planning, scheduling and Quality Assurance of major projects.
