Town where you live Centralia Washington
Experience (300 characters max) I was appointed to the Centralia City Council, in September of 2015.
Roads are foremost in citizen’s minds. I have regular, meetings with my constituents in District #3. The main question I am asked is about roads. City Council passed a small increase in sales tax, created specifically to go to roads. It generates about $650,000+ per year. Our future is to invest in sewers, maintaining & growing for new development. As a 20+ year real estate professional, I know that growth is coming strong & steady. We need to invest in our sewer system.
Homelessness is a state & national issue. I attend the Assn. of Washington Cities Conference yearly. All cities in Washington are dealing with this. Recently, a group was formed by our city manager called “The Centralia/Chehalis Homelessness Collaboration.” Its mission is to bring all leaders of groups representing all aspects of homelessness together. I am looking forward to working with them & start a new vision & focus about this issue with an “all hands on deck” collaborative approach
I am a senior citizen, at least an honorary one at 59 years old, so the senior community is close to my heart. My commitment is strong.
We mostly leave that to the Federal and State governments to manage and enforce this issue.
Economic growth. We have the lowest property taxes in Western Washington, low permit fees, utilities & room to grow. Economic development is happening. We need to invest in online permitting to streamline the processes, through which individuals & businesses can build buildings & start businesses. Owning a business in Centralia for over 20 years, providing 20+ jobs, I live on the cutting edge of growth & promotion of our city. I want to continue to create an environment of success for everyone
Economic growth and prosperity.
We have an excellent city manager. I will continue to work with him closely on all our issues and continue to observe and evaluate his performance. logo
