For 36 years a have been the pastor of Bethel Baptist Church in East Wenatchee and have ministered to hundreds of families in our valley. Experience (300 characters max) Construction Management and Real Estate Development 12 years (current). Insurance and Financial Licenses 4 years.
I have interacted and been a customer of the water district in many capacities over the past 12 years. During this period I have observed and experienced first hand the positive contribution water district commissioners can have on the direction and planning of this valuable service. I have also seen as many others have the need for capable, dedicated, and vision from commissioners. I believe in the mission and purpose of the water district and feel that I am well aligned with this mission. I believe that my many interactions as a customer also helps me to fully understand the needs and concerns of my fellow citizens.
The main issues facing the water district are Capital Costs and how those costs are passed to users, Operations and Maintenance especially in regards to future system integrity, and quality and continuity of service.
This is definitely a balanced approach as the issues are interrelated and must be approached in concert rather than a bubble. Focusing on capital projects in a fiscally responsible manner, rather than in a reactionary manner based on poor quality or after failure would be a main priority.
I have exact project management experience and hands on experience with water and mechanical systems at a municipal level. I understand how to effectively manage projects on time and within budget. I am a collaborator that focuses on bringing value to each project and using complimentary projects to get the highest value and least customer interruption as our aging system needs updates. I am keenly aware of the costs that can occur through lack of planning, management or understanding and I have the experience necessary to control these costs without burdening customers.
Water usage and conservation is best achieved through customer participation and education. It is very important that we not legislate or manipulate customers but rather encourage responsible stewardship. I would encourage the use of incentives and educational programs to help users have the tools to self regulate towards conservation. logo
