4-year termNo Salary, some districts offer small per diem for evening meetings. School Board Members or “directors” – are the elected governing body of the school district, serving four-year terms. The school board’s governance responsibilities fall in four major areas: Vision – focuses the work on student achievement through a comprehensive strategic planning process; Structure – provides prudent financial planning and oversight; diligent and innovative policymaking; Accountability – sets specific goals and a process for evaluation, reporting and recommendations for improvements; and Advocacy – champions public education in the local community and before state and federal policy makers. The School Board sets the general policies of the district, which are implemented by the hired professional district Superintendent and certificated teaching staff and personnel. One of the critical duties is the adoption of the district's budget and proposal of any school levies to be placed on the ballot to the people. The commission sets policies and approves all spending via the budget. The council also sets salaries for district employees.

Experience (300 characters max) Bachelor's and Master's of a Science in Accounting. 10 years of Experience in working with youth. I have actively managed construction projects as well as the related long term growth planning that accompanied the construction.
1) Teacher Turnover is the most urgent. 2) Growth in student #'s and the related additional facilities to manage the students. 3) ESL and student dropout rates k-12.
If the proposed charter is a good fit for the students needs and improves the existing resources then I'm for it.
Testing is a necessary evil. Growth and progress need to measured to be improved. Their should also be focus on identifying each students individual strengths and presenting them with career paths most suited to their individual circumstances.
Current start times are acceptable.
With a strong focus on parent engagement with their student in the education process. With increased parental involvement early on in their education we expect students to have the support they need both at home and school to excell.
As quickly as possible and by involving all parties (ie parents, teachers, councilors, principals or vice principals) related to the matter to work together to correctly assess the situation and develop a plan to address and correct.
I would once again focus on developing a plan that initiates and promotes the parents to assist and be engaged with their child in the earning of this credit.
This depends on the severity, frequency, and parental engagement as far as when and for how long it's implemented. But I do feel it is one more tool in what should be a bag of many tools to work to help students learn how to manage themselves.
