Qualifications: To be eligible to run for school board, a person must: Be a resident voter of the school city;  and have been a resident of the school city for at least one (1) year immediately preceding the member's election. Be registered to vote in the district Be at least 21 years old upon taking office Have no felony conviction Not be a teacherTerm Limits: Four-year term. No term limits.Duties: The most important responsibility of school boards is to work with their communities to improve student achievement in their local public schools. In compliance with state and federal laws, school boards establish policies and regulations by which their local schools are governed.Salary: $2000 Base
