As a former middle school teacher, parent of three, and lifelong member of this community, I bring both educational experience and a parent’s perspective to the School Board. I grew up and graduated from this district, and two of my children have gone through the district K-12, with my third currently a senior. I’m running because I care about our students, teachers, and schools and want to help make thoughtful decisions that strengthen our district and community for the future.
The school board should continue working to provide equal opportunities and resources for all students. This includes making sure every school has qualified teachers, updated technology, strong academic programs, and access to counselors and other support services. The district should also listen to students, parents, and teachers when making decisions.
Fremont County School District #1 can increase graduation rates by providing more tutoring, mentoring, and support for students who are struggling. The district could also expand career and technical education, internships, college-preparation programs, and opportunities to learn about military careers. Working with local businesses, colleges, and community organizations would give students more real-world experience and help them develop the skills needed to succeed after high school.
AI should be used as a tool to support teachers and students, not replace teachers. It can provide personalized learning, tutoring, research help, and feedback while helping teachers identify where students need extra support. The district should also teach students how to use AI responsibly, including understanding accuracy, privacy, plagiarism, and critical thinking.
The most important issues for Fremont County School District #1 are improving student achievement, supporting teachers and staff, and making sure students have access to the resources they need. The board should also focus on school safety, mental health, responsible use of technology and AI, and preparing students for college, careers, and life after graduation. Listening to students, parents, and teachers can help the district make decisions that benefit the entire community.
