I was motivated to to seek this position for multiple reasons.
I believe members of this board should have "skin" in the game and I do. I have two children in the school system and want to help provide them, the students and parents the best representation I can.
I believe focusing on the direction our schools need to go is paramount. We need to learn from our stakeholders IE parents, students and staff. They possess the inside knowledge that's needed to accelerate the district going forward.
I think it's important to build from within. Teachers are a tight knit group that converse with each other across district lines.
Invest in what we have and the word will get out.
I believe that there are ways to raise funds to help raise the starting salaries and increase current staff pay as well.
Facility rental/use for outside groups/businesses is something I believe is a great starting point.
I believe, again, we need to listen to our students better than we do. They are in the trenches each day and there's no doubt that they want safe and enjoyable environments as much as their parents.
Teachers as well. They are the pillars that support the entire system. Teachers and support staff are vital to access information on improvemnent.
I would continue to fully fund the school police with an emphasis on safety from within, continual improvements in technology and safety initiatives.
In my short time of learning about school funding I learned that I have a LOT to learn! I'm hesitant to make statements on funding allocation and disbursements at this point due to my need to learn more about the process.
I truly believe our administration has the best intentions when it comes to our schools. I believe most have children in the schools which keeps them driven to provide the best for our children!
Charter schools are not something that are going away and embracing a partnership with them may be a good idea. A working relationship with charter schools could be beneficial to both sides and allow career pathing and movement to more suitable educational environments for some.

I am seeking Re-Election to the School Board of Franklin Township; the Township and Schools I grew up living and attending .I have owned my own business since 1978; Realtor, Custom Home Builder and Land Developer. Growing up in Franklin Township, I know the History of our Community. With my business background, I understand dealing with people and school budgets and funding. I have 9 great nieces & nephews who are attending or just Graduated from Franklin Township Schools.
We have hired the best Superintendent and Chief Operating Officer who communicates with our teachers , parents and Community. Keeping our Teachers Safe and a good clean working environment plus supporting our Teachers with discipline issues. Always trying to fund more ways to pay our Teachers more money.
Safety is a top Issue as my father was a Lt. Col. on the Indiana State Police. We have an excellent "In House" Police Department at our Franklin Township Schools. We have top equipment in our Police Department that is not to be given out at this time.
Franklin Township School Corporation has an excellent COO who is always looking for ways to save money. We continue to have a balanced budget. Our Township has exploded with housing and we have kept up, all without having a referendum. Our Spending (if elected) will continue be spending for the best interest of our Student's.
I do not think charter schools is in the best interest of our Community and Students. We will as always get along with charter schools , but that is something that just does not fit on our community.
