City Directors have fiduciary and legislative responsibilities for the city of Little Rock. Key areas within those responsibilities include public safety, infrastructure, quality of life issues, economic development, and city services. Being accessible to constituents and responsive to their concerns is also a critical part of the job. This is done by attending neighborhood and POA meetings, sending regular emails, sharing information on social media, meeting with constituents, and being available by phone or email. Serving as a liaison between the BOD and city Boards and Commissions is another important duty, which allows me to interact with residents from across the city and understand their concerns and goals.
My work and public service experience have given me a solid foundation for understanding large budgets and advocating for needed priorities. I work with residents in each neighborhood across Ward 3 and know the issues facing residents. I am their advocate at City Hall, on public safety, code enforcement, zoning, or infrastructure issues. My problem solving experience allows me to look at an issue that can be corrected easily or is part of a bigger issue needing a systemic solution. For example, while better crosswalks improve safety around schools, bringing all parties together allows us to address the issue comprehensively. My ability to work collaboratively with other groups and officials and see opportunities benefits residents.
I will work to increase transparency in governance for residents by filing ordinances designed to do that. Ordinances will not be limited to funding provided to outside groups but will also cover city actions. Simultaneously, I will work to secure additional funding for infrastructure projects, including sidewalks and safer crosswalks. I will continue to work with city and legislative leaders to close loopholes frequent code violators use. And, I will continue working to secure adequate funding for city parks, including War Memorial.
