In May 2026, I was appointed to fill a vacant trustee position on the Oak Park School Board. After becoming a part district leadership, I witnessed both the challenges our district has faced and the incredible passion of those committed to its success. I also recognized that strong schools are built on strong relationships. As a licensed mental health professional, I understand that trust and psychological safety are essential to thrive.

I want to continue serving as a trustee because I bring the perspective of both a parent and a mental health professional. I am committed to thoughtful leadership, collaboration, and expanding access to mental health resources for students, families, educators, and staff. I believe lasting success begins with healthy people, and I would be honored to continue contributing to that work.
In my opinion, the three greatest challenges impacting our school district are limited resources, educator well-being and organizational trust.

Access to adequate resources is extremely important. Our schools are expected to provide the appropriate tools and support to create effective learning environments. Locating community resources that take the pressure off of our general fund and provide revenue for the district is imperative. This can be done through applying for grants and creating community partnerships.

Additionally, educator well-being cannot be overlooked. Teaching is an emotionally demanding profession, and chronic stress and burnout are common. Supporting staff with wellness initiatives and creating a healthy workplace culture helps educators remain engaged and able to provide the high-quality education students deserve.

Finally, working to heal the mistrust that has developed within the district is imperative. Transparency and facilitating open dialog are key.
