Biographical Information

1. Please provide biographical information and explain why you are running for School Board and relevant qualities and skills you would bring to the position that you are running for.

What are the top three (3) priority issues facing your school district, and what actions would you take to address them if elected to the school board?

I've been a resident of Clawson for nearly five years and am Founder and President of the NexGen Archery Foundation, a nonprofit which has raised over $56k to support collegiate archers with scholarships, grants, and equipment. Professionally, I do competitive intelligence consulting, analyzing how organizations compare with peers.

I was appointed to this trustee seat in June 2026, and I'm running to continue the work. Education is the backbone of our country, and with college growing costlier and more competitive, there's urgency to prepare students for what comes next. I'm still early in public service, but experience has to start somewhere, and I'd rather step up than sit back.

I want Clawson to be among the best districts, producing top students and retaining top staff. As a smaller district, we can personalize learning to help each student find their path. I'd bring leadership, budgeting, fundraising, and analytical skills, plus an open mind eager to learn.
Declining enrollment: Our size is our strength. Staff and administrators know every student and can help them find the right path beyond K-12, whether college, trade, or a family business. I'd work with the superintendent/administration to market our personal approach to attract and keep families. Keeping enrollment strong also protects funding, since state dollars follow each student.

Funding: I'd champion transparent, balanced budgeting and pursue grants and partnerships so we aren't defaulting to new millages. When a millage is truly needed, I'd help residents see it isn't just higher taxes; it sustains the schools that protect our property values, since strong schools raise resale value.

Teacher vacancies: Keeping great teachers is just as important as filling open positions. I'd prioritize both, pairing active recruitment with real retention through mentorship, meaningful support, grow-your-own pipelines, and a culture where impactful teachers want to stay.
William Zaglaniczny. I am an 8-year Clawson resident and proud father of three children (ages 7, 4, and 1) attending Clawson Elementary and the Early Childhood Center. With a B.S. in Finance from Oakland University and an MBA/MS in Finance from Walsh University, I work for Oakland County, providing small business loans to support the local economy.

I am running for the Clawson School Board because I have a long-term stake in the district’s success. With my children attending Clawson Public Schools for the next 15+ years, I am deeply committed to ensuring academic excellence, safety, and strong support for educators.

I bring advanced financial expertise, fiscal responsibility, and an understanding of complex budgeting. My daily work with Oakland County demonstrates my ability to collaborate and advocate for community growth. As an active parent, I provide a firsthand perspective on the district's needs.
I have identified the following three issues for Clawson Public Schools:

1. Prioritizing Resident Children: The district gives priority to out-of-district students who often do not stay long-term. I will change enrollment policies to prioritize resident children first, ensuring local tax dollars invest directly in Clawson families.

2. Supporting Teachers and Staff: Earlier this year, teachers went four months without a contract, hurting morale. I will advocate for timely negotiations, competitive pay, and strong support for staff, knowing a district is only as strong as the educator in front of the classroom.

3. Improving Transparency: Communication gaps exist between the board, educators, and families. I will implement proactive updates so parents understand why decisions are made and have meaningful opportunities to provide input.

I will use my advanced financial background to ensure fiscal responsibility while tackling these urgent priorities.
