I am a Birmingham Public Schools parent, an Oakland County public-school graduate, and a longtime community volunteer with professional experience in finance, public policy, and community affairs. For more than a decade, I have worked in the mortgage industry, developing skills in financial analysis, regulatory compliance, problem-solving, and clear communication. I also serve on Oxford High School’s Career and Technical Education Advisory Board and have contributed more than 1,000 hours of community service through organizations including buildOn and Focus: HOPE.
I am running because strong public schools are the foundation of a thriving community. I want to protect BPS’s tradition of excellence while addressing students’ evolving academic, social-emotional, and safety needs. I would bring financial literacy, policy experience, collaborative leadership, and a parent’s perspective to the Board. I will evaluate evidence, oversee resources responsibly with educators and students first.
My top three priorities are academic excellence, student well-being, and responsible stewardship of district resources.
First, I would support rigorous, evidence-based instruction while using achievement data to identify gaps, strengthen interventions, and ensure every student is appropriately challenged and supported.
Second, I would prioritize safe, healthy learning environments by expanding access to mental health resources, strengthening school safety practices, and supporting responsible, age-appropriate technology and screen-use policies developed with input from educators, students, and families.
Third, I would promote transparent and fiscally responsible governance. I would carefully review budgets, enrollment trends, staffing needs, and facility priorities to ensure resources are directed toward the classroom and decisions are sustainable. Across all three areas, I would listen to stakeholders, ask thoughtful questions, use reliable data, and clearly communicate decisions.
I serve on the Birmingham Board of Education, sitting on the Finance Committee, and I'm running for re-election. I'm also a father with a son in the district, so this is personal, not abstract. As a manager at Ford, I manage budgets and build long-term strategy, skills I bring directly to the Board.
I'm running to keep building on work already underway. On Finance, I've helped keep our budget strong while investing in what makes Birmingham great, from daily needs to bond funding for security. I've also prioritized early childhood education, including funding Midvale School, because early investment closes gaps, especially for students with special needs.
I bring proven experience, not just interest: real budget work, real votes, real committee engagement. I pair fiscal discipline with strategic investment, and a parent's firsthand view of how policy affects real kids. My approach is consistent: show up prepared, listen, and decide based on data and what's best for students, not politcs
I serve on the Finance Committee, and three priorities stand out
First, fiscal responsibility. Rising costs and aging facilities require transparent budgeting. I'll pursue bond funding for security upgrades, not piecemeal fixes, while protecting academic investments.
Second, mental health and academic support. Struggles show up in schools first, so we need sustained funding for counselors and social workers, staff trained to spot warning signs, and stronger intervention for students falling behind, while still challenging high achievers. This should be a budget priority, not an afterthought.
Third, equitable access to early and special education. A child's foundation is set early, so I'll keep funding programs like Midvale School and properly resourcing special education, ensuring every student gets a quality education tailored to how they learn, not just the minimum required.
