Throughout my career, I have successfully led organizations, managed multi-million dollar budgets, and brought diverse groups together to establish both short- and long-term goals. My leadership approach is centered on active listening, relationship building, and strategic, big-picture planning rather than micromanagement. I take pride in my ability to communicate effortlessly with individual residents and business leaders alike. I believe that even when we agree to disagree, respectful dialogue allows us to reach strong consensus decisions that serve the whole community. My track record of building bridges, fostering collaboration, and finding common ground makes me uniquely qualified to serve on the Village Council President.
As President of Council, my priority is building a stronger, safer, vibrant village across four areas:
First, essential infrastructure. Reliable sewer and stormwater systems, solid curbs, safe sidewalks, and modernized wastewater treatment are vital to guarantee sustainability, protect safety, and drive economic growth.
Second, recreational spaces. Enhancing our parks enriches daily life and fosters connection. I will work to add public restrooms, renovate the pavilion and basketball courts at the village park, and update playground equipment at Centennial Park.
Third, addressing blight. Clearing neglected properties and overgrown lots revitalizes neighborhoods, protects property values, and elevates our overall quality of life.
Finally, a new community center. I envision a central gathering space that brings residents together with resources for youth, families, and seniors.
By focusing on these priorities, we can ensure our village remains a place we are all proud to call home.
Two challenges facing our village are revitalizing our downtown and expanding affordable housing.
First, filling empty storefronts is vital because a thriving downtown serves as our economic engine and public identity. Beyond expanding our tax base, vibrant storefronts create a safe, walkable district where families gather, shop, and dine. Partnering with the Downtown Development Authority and the Local Development Finance Authority will provide the necessary leadership to attract local entrepreneurs and make our center a welcoming, prosperous destination.
Second, securing affordable housing is essential for long-term stability and economic growth. Local businesses, schools, first responders, and municipal services rely on employees who can afford to live near their work. Accessible housing prevents workforce shortages and eliminates burdensome commutes. Achieving this requires collaboration among local government, non-profits, private developers, and regional housing authorities.
I currently serve on the Fowlerville Village Planning Commission, where I work to represent the interests of our entire community—including local residents, business owners, and professionals. My commitment to civic service is built on years of active local involvement, including past service on my church council, coaching youth sports, and mentoring young leaders through Scouting.
