City Council members should be responsive to the citizenry - to respond to their calls and emails and help them navigate all things City, like the permit process. We should attend community events to be available in person - and to support our community non-profits and businesses.
Former City Council member, currently on Bella Vista Planning Commission and County Planning Board and Tax Equalization Board, and Architectural Control Committee Rules and Regulation Committee. Masters Degree in Regional Planning. Certified Arkansas Planning Official. Board of Bella Vista Historical Society. City Strategic Planning Task Force, Former Board of BV Community TV, Bella Vista Foundation and Bella Vista Business Association. When I first came here in 2011, I attended almost every City Council meeting and POA meeting, often being the only member of the public at those meetings. I believe in being active in my community and part of the solution to whatever issues we might confront.
Bella Vista is at a crossroads with managing future growth - we need to protect and maintain the quality of life in Bella Vista while taking care not to become Bentonville north. We need to be more proactive regarding our septic issues with only 25% of our city on sewer, coordinating with Village Waste Water. We are at a disadvantage with not having municipally owned water or sewer - I want the City to participate actively with the current Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning infrastructure study. We need to actively explore creating a commercial tax base to take the burden off our residents, but not line 71 with chain restaurants. Communication and coordination should be combined with thinking outside the box for solutions.
