A Fayetteville City Council member represents the residents of their ward while considering the needs of the entire city. Council members propose, debate, and vote on ordinances, resolutions, and policies involving infrastructure, public safety, housing, development, transportation, utilities, parks, and other city services. They review and approve the city budget, help set long-term priorities, and provide oversight of city government. Council members also listen to constituents, bring community concerns forward, serve on committees and boards, and work with the Mayor, fellow Council members, city staff, businesses, and residents. The role is ultimately about responsible public service, thoughtful decision-making, and transparency.
I bring 12 years of experience in real estate development and nearly two decades of professional experience working with people, organizations, and communities. Earlier in my career, I worked on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, for a Member of Congress, giving me firsthand experience with government, public policy, constituent services, and the legislative process. My career has taught me how to manage complex projects, communicate clearly, work with diverse stakeholders, solve problems, and make decisions with long-term impacts in mind. I also serve as Chair of my church’s Board, where I help guide priorities and work collaboratively with others. These experiences have prepared me to represent Ward 4 thoughtfully and effectively.
The first thing I plan to do is make Fayetteville more proactive about growth and opportunity. I want to work with city staff and local business leaders to actively reach out to companies and let them know Fayetteville is ready to welcome new businesses, investment, and jobs. At the same time, we need to make sure growth works for the people who already call Fayetteville home by increasing opportunities for affordable and workforce housing. I will also push for proactive infrastructure planning so our roads, water, and sewer systems can keep up with that growth. Growth should create opportunity without pricing people out or leaving infrastructure behind.

As an elected official to the Fayetteville City Council, my duties are to ensure fiscal responsibility of the city, ensure that fire and police have adequte funding and support to keep our city safe, listen to residents concerns and make decisions zoning that may affect the future of Fayetteville. In addition, I serve on the Water and Sewer committe that ensures the city plans properly to continue to provide clean water and sewer facilities that handle our waste without polluting our rivers or creeks. If there are policies that need to be updated or amended, I often draft legislation in collaboration with the city attorney to bring those adjustments forward for consideration by the City Council.
I have lived in large cities (Seattle, WA and Washington DC), medium size towns/cities (Little Rock, Texarkana) and small towns (Dutch Harbor, AK). In Seattle, they did not have a metro system or light rail at the time. In contrast, the Washington DC metro and train system are efficent and effective in greatly reducing vehicle traffic. When the Metro stops working, the city does too. My experience with different sized cities, transportation systems, and amenities greatly informs my analysis and decision making on the City Council. I also have experience in the budget arena from working at NOAA HQ in the Science/Technology Division. I drafted national budgets for fisheries programs and sheparded them through the federal review process.
I plan on continuing to advocate for the implementation of all items in the Climate Action Plan (CAP) especially working with the administration to increase the Urban Canopy to reduce heat islands within the City of Fayetteville. Implementing the CAP will be faciliated by working with staff and the administration to make it a priority for the City. I plan on drafting an ordinance to revise some of the City's existing Urban Forestry standards to increase the number of trees planted and reduce the opportunity to clear cut or remove mature trees. I'll also collaborate and work with the Urban Forestry Advisory Board.
