I believe that Mount Clemens Community Schools is regaining its identity. The district has come a long way, from being in a deficit to now being in the black and seeing the return on investment with increases in academics, enrollment, and fiscal responsibility. There is more work to be done, I would like to continue to work with my fellow board members to get more work accomplished.
One issue is our infrastructure, the board will have to continue to create budgets that align with our needs and not our wants. I will work with the business/finance committee and full board to make sure our visions align.
The second issue we have is on academic proficiency. I will help to continue the work currently being done to make sure standards are aligned with current metrics on our local/state/federal level regarding proficiency. We have to create and pass budgets that align with what educators need to foster inclusive learning environments so a student can perform well.
The district does have adequate safety plans for both buildings that was recently updated. I will continue to support the administration in passing various asks to enhance safety and security for our students and staff.
I believe that the school district does offer adequate opportunities in district and through our partnerships with other districts and educational institutions. I do believe we have an opportunity to expand opportunities through grant funded opportunities that will attract more families into the district.
