I am running for the School Board because we are in dire need of a fresh direction, a renewed attitude, and a genuine reconnection between our schools and the community we serve. Right now, our district is struggling with a culture of apathy. The school board has lost sight of its core mission, and the surrounding community has naturally disengaged.
The single greatest issue facing our district right now is the conduct and focus of the board itself. We are witnessing a staggering lack of care, an open disdain for community input, and severe breaches of public trust—including ongoing investigations into allegations of bribery and the covering up of potential sexual assaults. Coupled with years of mismanaged funds and fiscal irresponsibility. I would address these issues by facing them and communicating directly with the community, being transparent, and inviting students onto the board to have a voice on decisions being made that do impact them.
I have full confidence in the dedicated teachers, and staff working inside the buildings every day. They care deeply about our kids and do everything in their power to keep them safe. However, they are currently being asked to maintain a secure environment without the full backing and resources they need from district leadership. ​Right now, our district's approach to safety falls short because our staff lacks essential tools, updated infrastructure, and clear, modernized support to make executing a comprehensive safety plan seamless. True school safety shouldn't rely solely on the extra burden placed on our educators; it requires proactive investment and real transparency from the board.
In my opinion, no. The district simply does not provide adequate opportunities, and the root of the problem is a clear lack of intentional effort, promotion, and funding from leadership.
