Should the Township Committee of the Township of Warren appropriate funds and incur debt service in the estimated amount of $7,500,000.00 to preserve and renovate the Hofheimer House for community meeting space in accordance with the Concept plans and Cost Estimates prepared by Clark Caton Hintz which are on file with the Township and available on the Township website at https://www.warrennj.org/DocumentCenter/View/11645/Hofheimer-House-Plan-and-Cost-Estimate?Interpretative StatementIn the early 1900's the Hotheimer family acquired over 300 acres of land in Warren Township to build their summer retreat which included the construction of the Hofheimer House located at 46 Mountain Boulevard. The Hofheimer House served as theformer Municipal Building of the Township, but has been vacant since 2017 when municipal operations were moved into the current Municipal Building. At the request of the Township Committee, the Warren Historic Sites Committee spearheaded a study regarding the preservation and renovation of the Hofheimer House and the potential future use thereof. Concept Plans and Cost Estimates for preservation and renovation of the Hofheimer House were prepared by Clark Caton Hintz, and presented to the Township Committee at a public meeting. The Concept Plans and Cost Estimates are on file with the Township and available for public inspection at the office of the Township Clerk and also available on the Township website at https://www.warrennj.org/DocumentCenter/View/11645/Hofheimer-House-Plan-and-Cost-EstimateThe Township Committee desires to obtain the sentiment of the legal voters of the Township as whether the Township should appropriate fundsandincur debt service in the estimated amount of $7,500,000.00 to preserve and renovate the Hofheimer House for community meeting space in accordance with the Concept Plans and Cost Estimates prepared by Clark Caton Hintz. The estimated cost of the preservation and renovation project would increase the municipal portion of the property taxes paid by the average residential household with an assessed valuation of $1,021,852.00 by $81 per year assuming a 20-year bond issue.This is a non-binding Referendum. A YES vote on this non-binding Referendum would indicate to the Township Committee that you are IN favor of the Township appropriating funds and incurring debt service for the preservation and renovation of the Hofheimer House. A NO vote on this non- binding Referendum would indicate to the Township Committee that you are NOT IN favor of the Township appropriating funds and incurring debt service for the preservation and renovation of the Hotheimer House. Your vote will influence, but not bind the Township Committee to the majority vote.
