Experience
I currently serve as Executive Director of Co.act, supporting nonprofits building more just and thriving communities. I previously taught community and economic development at the University of Detroit Mercy, served as COO of a national workforce development company, and at age 23 oversaw a $2 million neighborhood redevelopment project. These experiences have taught me how to bring people together, listen to residents, and turn community priorities into action. I grew up in Flint and returned home to raise my family. As the only candidate with children currently attending Flint Public Schools, I have a direct stake in our city's future and believe Flint deserves leadership that combines deep local roots with proven experience.
Community Involvement
My commitment to public service began with my first job at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Flint and has continued throughout my career. Today, I remain actively involved in the community as Board Chair of Good Laundry, a nonprofit serving Flint's north side, a member of the Flint & Genesee Chamber and Flint Tennis Club, and a volunteer with the Fairfield Neighborhood Association. As a parent, I am also involved with the parent-teacher group at Durant-Tuuri-Mott Elementary. I have built my career around bringing people together to strengthen communities. I see serving on City Council as a natural extension of that work and an opportunity to continue serving the city that raised me.
Campaign Message
Believe in Better. Better neighborhoods. Better opportunities. Better leadership. I believe Flint's best days are still ahead, but only if we are willing to work together to create them. As a husband, father, nonprofit leader, and lifelong Flint resident, I am running to bring people together, listen to residents, and deliver results for every neighborhood. Flint deserves leadership that believes in better and works every day to make it a reality.
I bring a combination of community leadership, nonprofit management, entrepreneurship, and economic development experience that will strengthen City Council. As a Flint native, I understand our challenges because I have spent my career on the ground building solutions, not just discussing them. I have led organizations, managed multimillion-dollar initiatives, created jobs, launched community projects like Good Laundry, and built partnerships that deliver results. I bring a hands-on leadership style, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to turn ideas into action for residents.
My priorities will be focused on stronger neighborhoods, economic opportunity, and a city government that delivers results. I will work to reduce blight through stronger code enforcement, vacant property stabilization, and partnerships that transform neglected spaces into community assets. I will advocate for targeted investment in 8th Ward neighborhoods, including revitalizing commercial corridors through safer streets, improved lighting, beautification, small business support, and activating vacant storefronts. My goal is to help build a Flint where every neighborhood has the opportunity to believe in better.
I believe effective representation requires creating accessible ways for residents to be heard and government to be accountable. I will strengthen neighborhood leadership by helping resource neighborhood groups so residents have organized voices and community-driven solutions. I will develop an 8th Ward website where residents can submit concerns, track issues, and see progress beyond social media. Through regular neighborhood meetings and direct communication, I will build a culture where residents are not just informed, but active partners in shaping our future.
Yes. Serving on City Council is a responsibility and a public trust. I am applying for a job to serve thousands of residents in the 8th Ward and the City of Flint, and elected officials should be held to the same standards of ethics, accountability, and fiduciary responsibility expected in any executive leadership role. In every executive position I have held, I have operated under clear expectations around integrity, conflicts of interest, stewardship of resources, and responsible decision-making. I believe elected officials should commit to a formal ethics agreement that reinforces transparency and accountability. Trust is earned through actions, and residents deserve leaders who put the public interest first.
I want voters to know this campaign is not about me; it is about continuing a lifetime of service to the community that raised me. My family is still here because I grew up with a commitment to Flint, serving others, and leaving things better than I found them. In every leadership role I have held, I have valued integrity, accountability, and doing what is right.
I believe in solving problems, bringing people together, and creating hope through action. I’m a proud husband and father, former U of M soccer player, and lifelong learner. I will bring that same energy, curiosity, and commitment to serving the residents of Flint.
