I served four years as an elected member of the Flint City Council, including as Vice President of the Council. During my service, I completed professional training through the Michigan Municipal League in municipal governance, budgeting, ethics, parliamentary procedure, and the duties and responsibilities of elected officials. That experience gave me practical leadership skills and a strong understanding of local government.

Taking Care of My Community
As a Flint City Councilmember, I have developed a strong understanding of municipal government, budgeting, policy development, and constituent services. I have demonstrated the ability to build partnerships with residents, nonprofits, businesses, and government agencies to address issues such as public safety, blight, neighborhood revitalization, youth engagement, and quality of life.
My academic background has strengthened my skills in research, critical thinking, data analysis, and evidence-based decision-making. Professionally and personally, I am a problem solver who believes in listening first, communicating openly, and finding practical solutions.
If elected, my priorities will remain centered on improving the quality of life for every resident through responsive, results-driven leadership.
First, I will continue working to strengthen public safety by advocating for adequate staffing, supporting neighborhood policing, addressing dangerous properties, and investing in programs that prevent crime before it occurs.
Second, I will aggressively combat blight by ensuring property maintenance ordinances are enforced, increasing neighborhood beautification efforts, and promoting redevelopment that transforms vacant and abandoned properties into community assets.
Third, I will prioritize infrastructure improvements.
Over the past four years, I have made communication and accessibility a cornerstone of my public service. I host monthly 2nd Ward Community Conversations at the Northside Mini Station to keep residents informed, educated, and actively involved in shaping solutions to the issues that affect our neighborhoods. These meetings are community driven and solution focused, giving residents a direct voice in local government.
When urgent or complex issues arise, I organize special meetings and town halls to ensure residents receive timely information and have an opportunity to ask questions, share concerns, and help identify solutions. In addition, I regularly communicate with residents through text.
No. I do not believe another ethics oath is the solution if the oaths and ethical standards already in place are not consistently honored or enforced. Public trust is restored through accountability, not by adding more promises on paper.
Instead, we should strengthen oversight, enforce existing ethics rules, establish clear parameters for acceptable conduct, and ensure there are meaningful consequences for misconduct, conflicts of interest, and breaches of fiduciary responsibility. Ethical government depends on transparency, accountability, and consistent enforcement. When elected officials know the rules will be applied fairly and violations will have real consequences, public confidence is strengthened.
Voters should know that I lead with service, integrity, and action. My focus has never been on politics. It has always been on improving the quality of life for the people I represent.
As the 2nd Ward Councilperson, I have worked tirelessly to address blight, improve public safety, advocate for neighborhood revitalization, expand youth opportunities, connect residents with critical resources, and ensure that every resident has a voice in local government. Through monthly 2nd Ward Community Conversations, neighborhood outreach, and direct engagement with residents, I believe government works best when it listens first and acts second.
