Candidate For Office
Becca Balint
I’ve spent my career fighting for Vermonters. I started as a public school teacher in rural Vermont, where I learned to listen, show up, and fight for my students and community. I carried those lessons to the State Senate, where I built coalitions and ultimately served as President Pro Tempore. Today, as Vermont’s first woman and openly LGBTQ member of Congress, I bring that same Vermont spirit to Washington, where I am fighting to lower costs, expand affordable housing, strengthen public education, protect reproductive freedom, and defend the rights of every Vermonter. I know how to listen, lead with courage, and get results for our state.
In the next Farm Bill, I will build on the work I’ve already done to strengthen federal support for small and midsize farms, protect and expand SNAP food assistance, and invest in conservation and climate resilience. I’ve introduced legislation to help Vermont farmers protect their land from flooding and erosion, and I’ve led Farm Bill amendments to expand rural homeownership and preserve affordable rural rental housing. I’ll keep fighting to make farming a viable career for the next generation, protect Vermont families from hunger, and rein in the corporate consolidation that is hurting our farmers and driving up grocery costs.
I’ll keep fighting to make sure every eligible Vermonter can cast their ballot and have their voice heard. I co-sponsor the John Lewis Voting Rights Act and the Freedom to Vote Act, and I’ll keep working to restore federal protections against discriminatory voting restrictions and make voter registration easier. As Vice Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee, I’ll also defend mail-in voting, online registration, and other tools that make it easier for rural Vermonters, seniors, people with disabilities, and working families to participate in our democracy. I will also continue to stand up against the SAVE Act, which would take voting rights away from people.

U.S. House - at large
I served 22 years on active duty in the United States Army, leading soldiers around the world in defense of our nation. Following my military service, I continued supporting our country through government roles and have spent years working closely with our military—primarily in the Washington, D.C. area.
In the private sector, I have succeeded in highly competitive environments, helping grow technology and service businesses and creating jobs. I hold an MBA from Temple University, a graduate certificate from Georgetown University, and completed the Army Command and General Staff College.
Throughout my career, I have worked with more than 20 allied nations across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Persian Gulf.
Vermont is the most rural State and Vermont’s dairy farmers/agriculture are the foundation of Vermont. Upon taking Office I am going to propose and push thru long overdue Immigration Reform to support avenues for immigrants to transition legally, host programs, and building affordable housing for workers. I will seek to impact current immigration/deportation policies with the Admininistration, including directly with Secretary Mullin, whom I have met in person. I have also engaged Congressman GT Thompson (R,PA), including very recently, where I discussed desiring to be on the US House Agriculture Committee, that he Chairs, to support Vermont’s farming/dairy, and he agreed to endorse me for Vermont’s at large US House seat.
We just need to have reasonable voting options for people. Some like: Early in person voting, some like mail voting, and we must always make sure to have easily accessible polling places for elders and those needing it.
I think it is ok to require identification requirements such as an ID - but I would like them to be provided for no cost and have a simple and practical way to obtain it.
The President is the President and no tantrum is going to change that. Felling don't pay bills and if you do your own research on how much money Vermont is not getting because the catch phrases take priority over apply for everything. Well i am able to work with unpleasant people who are immature that don't possess pattern recognition.
It's not Millions it's Billions in funding and taxable revenue not being allocated because emotional topics aren't being addressed.
Think of it like this. Every streaming service is paid but not the electric bill. Well order of operations.
I will apply for everything and work with every federal agency in a mature and professional manner.
I can help calm things down with Canada Venezuela and Cuba.
I'll lobby to combine programs. Prison Reform is long over due and simple beekeeping and botany glasses won't require offensive levels of funding. Work release is done in different States so just Copy and Paste what works.
Mentorship and classes or workshops on how to navigate different federal agencies.
100% lobby for all Native Tribes to receive federal recognition. On that note every old ingredient used for every old recipe thought in different work shops to generate taxable revenue from food and snacks most have never experienced. Put the Vermont name on it with the permission of whatever Native American logo with a few words in the original language of these lands and protect the Vermont Brand and by default the ENVIRONMENT!
Streamline all relevant paperwork be put together day one of the 9th grade. Keep only what genuinely helps the Next-Generation navigate this society. And a part of that is photo identification. I interact with pleasant people who are enjoyable to interact with but lose everything. So is it pleasant to point out anything negative about anyone ever for any reason? Well is there anyone on that side of the family you will never trust with anything flammable fragile or sharp? I never met these people who you have an unshared option of.
When emotional outrage personality types say expecting everyone to keep track of their own stuff. It comes from knowing there that side of the family people will never be organized.
Say I'm wrong.

In short: Because I'm not a politician. And I believe Vermonters want exactly that this year: a different kind of voice to represent them. As a business entrepreneur, massage therapist, survivor of a head-on collision, and a stand-up comedian, I have resilence and tenacity from being those things. Americans are uniquely divided, politically, As an Independent, I am neither Republican or Democrat, not Blue or Red. I'm straight down the middle: Purple, It's time to put a woman in who understands how to initiate healing in our political landscape, and inject a bit of laughter/humor into politics. Hence why our campaign is titled:"Politics UnUsual!".
Laughter IS the best medicine and we need the proper *doctor* to bring our country together.
I support a Farm Bill that puts working farms, food security, and rural communities at the center of federal agricultural policy. This is what Vermont is all about.
We have got to help young and beginning farmers get established. Our state won't be recognizable if we don't. I would expand low-interest federal loans, down-payment assistance, technical assistance, and crop-insurance support for beginning farmers. The federal government recently expanded support for beginning farmers from their first five years to their first ten years of farming, providing a foundation that I support.
I also we need faster federal disaster payments; the federal government has been way too slow in its response when people are in desperate need.
I support every eligible Vermonter's right to vote, but I also believe voters have a right to know that their ballot is being handled securely. Vermont's universal mail-ballot system should not be treated as beyond scrutiny. Concerns about election integrity should be based on documented problems though, and then audited if need be.
I would support stronger safeguards around automatic ballot mailing, address verification, ballot tracking, chain of custody, ballot collection, and post-election auditing. I would also support giving voters a clear way to confirm that their ballot was properly received and accepted. Mail -in ballots may be here to stay but we should stay on top of this issue so there is trust in the voting system.
