ESCAMBIA COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT REFERENDUM

Shall the Superintendent of Schools of Escambia County, Florida, be elected by the majority of the qualified electors of Escambia County, Florida?Florida is one of only two states that permit election rather than appointment by the School Board for local School Superintendent. In 2018, the voters of Escambia County approved the change from an elected to an appointed School Superintendent.

If you vote YES, then county residents will elect the school superintendent. The only qualification for this position is residency in Escambia County, Florida.

If you vote NO, the school board will fill the position of school superintendent following the current standard selection process based on qualifications for the position.
