I am qualified to serve on the Orange County School Board because I bring professional experience, community leadership, and a lifelong commitment to serving families. I hold a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's in health administration, with more than a decade of experience in mental health and social work.
As a mother of three children—two serving in law enforcement and one serving in the U.S. Army—I understand the value of discipline, responsibility, and service. I will lead with accountability, transparency, and a commitment to supporting students, teachers, and parents.
Artificial intelligence is transforming education and the workforce, so our schools should teach students how to use AI responsibly rather than ignore it. AI can support learning, critical thinking, research, and creativity when guided by teachers, but it should never replace original thinking or academic integrity.
Teachers should receive training on how to integrate AI effectively while protecting student privacy. We must also prepare students with strong reading, writing, math, communication, problem-solving, and digital literacy skills so they can adapt, innovate, and succeed in an AI-driven economy.
I believe parents deserve a voice in their children's education, and teachers deserve to be heard because they work with our students every day.
My job as a School Board member is to listen to both, follow Florida law, and make decisions in the best interest of students. I believe classroom materials should be age-appropriate, help students learn, and prepare them for success. Even when people disagree, I will lead with respect, transparency, and common sense.
School closures affect students, families, staff, and entire communities, so those decisions should never come as a surprise. I believe the district must communicate early, listen to the community, and be transparent about enrollment and financial challenges.
To recruit and keep great teachers and staff, we must create a workplace where they feel respected, supported, and heard. We should also look for ways to reduce unnecessary workload, improve communication, and make Orange County a place where educators want to build a long-term career.
I believe parents should have the freedom to choose the educational setting that best meets their child's needs. At the same time, we must continue strengthening our public schools because they serve the majority of our students.
My focus is not on creating competition between schools, but on making sure every child has access to a quality education. As a School Board member, my responsibility is to make Orange County Public Schools the best choice by supporting students, teachers, and parents.
Student safety must always come first. OCPS has policies and safety measures in place, but we should continue reviewing them to make sure they are working and make improvements when needed. Bullying, cyberbullying, and school violence should never be ignored.
I support strong partnerships between schools, parents, law enforcement, and mental health professionals. Every student should feel safe, respected, and able to learn in a secure environment. We should always look for ways to strengthen safety based on facts, not assumptions.

As an OCPS parent and professional managing publicly funded programs, I understand the need for accountability, responsible budgeting, and student success. My work has focused on implementing complex initiatives, managing public resources, and bringing people together to solve problems. I earned my law degree from the University of Florida and am a graduate of Leadership Orlando, strengthening my ability to navigate policy and build consensus.
I will bring a collaborative, student-centered approach to the School Board—listening to families and educators, making evidence-based decisions, and staying focused on strengthening our public schools.
Artificial intelligence is transforming education and the workforce, so our schools must prepare students to use it responsibly rather than ignore it. OCPS should establish clear guidelines that promote academic integrity while allowing students and teachers to use AI as a tool for learning, creativity, research, and productivity. We should invest in professional development so educators feel confident using AI effectively in the classroom. Students should graduate with strong critical thinking, digital literacy, problem-solving, and ethical decision-making skills. AI should enhance learning, not replace it, preparing students for future careers.
Parents deserve to be engaged partners in their children's education, and their voices should be heard. At the same time, curriculum and instructional materials should be selected through a transparent process that relies on educational expertise, state standards, and age appropriateness.
I believe we can respect parental concerns while ensuring every student has access to a high quality education. Decisions should be made thoughtfully, with input from educators, families, and the community, not driven by politics or efforts to restrict learning. My focus will always be on supporting student achievement, academic excellence, and an inclusive learning environment where every child feels they belong.
School closures are difficult for families and communities and require careful, transparent planning with meaningful public engagement. Long term, we must keep our schools strong by supporting both students and the educators who serve them.
Recruiting and retaining outstanding teachers starts with making the profession sustainable. We should advocate for increased state funding, competitive salaries, strong mentorship for new teachers, meaningful professional development, and opportunities for career advancement. We should also reduce unnecessary administrative burdens so teachers can spend more time teaching students. Supporting educators is one of the best investments we can make in student success.
Families should have educational options that meet their children's needs. However, Florida has a constitutional responsibility to provide a strong system of free public schools, and those schools educate the overwhelming majority of our children.
I am concerned when voucher expansion diverts funding away from traditional public schools without the same level of accountability, transparency, and public oversight required of public schools. Every school receiving taxpayer dollars should be held to high standards. My priority is ensuring that OCPS has the resources necessary to provide every student with an excellent education, regardless of their ZIP code or background.
Student safety must always be the School Board’s top priority. OCPS uses layered protections, including school resource officers, secure campuses, emergency planning, threat assessment teams, mental health supports, and anti-bullying policies. While these efforts have improved safety, we must keep strengthening them. Expanding school-based mental health services, promoting early intervention, and deepening partnerships with families and law enforcement are essential. Students must feel safe reporting concerns, and every report must be taken seriously. Safe schools require both strong security and a positive, supportive climate.
