1. If there are sufficient Senate votes: impeach, remove, and disqualify the Vice President (first), then the President, and then the five Supreme Court justices who have greenlit the President’s criminality. But if we aren’t close to having the votes, defer this and move on.
2. Raise taxes on incomes above $300,000 sufficiently to close the federal budget deficit and pay off the national debt in 10-15 years; WHILE restoring 45 years of cuts to social benefits, improving access to health care, and replenishing our military capacity to resist tyranny worldwide.
3. Highly tax cryptocurrency and AI operations, particularly as to their energy usage, and closely regulate AI to insure privacy and informational integrity.
Use surgical tariffs to stop the race to the bottom in wage levels, job safety, environmental protection, and agricultural prices. Reform immigration to expand our aging work force. Allow individual tax-deferred savings to hedge against inflationary spikes.
Impose a carbon tax, with a lifeline rebate to eliminate its impact on prices, and reasonable fuel and other energy usage, for and by the average consumer. Beef up FEMA and other programs to respond to immediate climate disasters.
Restore virtually all social program cuts since 1980 -- Reaganism is not the solution to our country's problems; it is the problem.
Put some teeth into starter home programs.
Tie child welfare benefits to specific activities such as consistent school attendance, with extra rewards for excellence.
Raise and spend whatever funds are necessary to end health care deserts in various areas of our country.
Incrementally extend governmental health insurance programs to persons without insurance.
Restore the voting rights act as written, undoing the US Supreme Court's shameful decisions gutting it. Consider federal legislation limiting gerrymandering in federal elections. Restrict arbitrary federal interference intended to reduce participation or to intimidate voters and election officials.
All of the above. My fundamental objective is to restore a United States of America that is muscular (including a strong national defense effort and systems of alliance), confident, compassionate, and prudent.
Reform would not be a topic if the federal judiciary had not been suborned and manipulated over the last 45 years. The existing system would work well if our highest ranking justices had integrity. In that absence, however, term limits would be a practical alternative.
My priorities are economic growth and lowering costs, keeping our community safe, and reforming Washington. This moment calls for serious, experienced leaders who are focused on delivering results, not just rhetoric, who will stand up to Donald Trump and deliver on day one. As a member of Congress, 13 of my bills are now law. My bill to cap the cost of insulin for seniors at $35 has been a monumental accomplishment of mine. This is the work I will expand on as your U.S. Senator. I will work to lower the cost of healthcare by passing a public option and protect people’s hard earned Social Security benefits, Medicare and Medicaid instead of cutting taxes for billionaires. I want Minnesotans to feel like the American Dream is within reach.
We have to make the economy work for working folks again. I’m for creating jobs, investing in skilled labor, keeping basic costs under control and building an economy that works for the middle and working class. That includes raising the minimum wage, protecting organized labor and supporting small businesses and family farmers. In Congress, I’ve been taking on corporations that are jacking up costs for working and middle class families. I’m stopping them from taking advantage of Americans.
In the land of 10,000 lakes, Minnesotans deserve better than an administration that considers climate change a hoax and rolls back protections for clean air and water. In 2022, I supported the largest investment in combating climate change in our nation’s history. And as the top Democrat on the House Ag Committee, I’ve fought to protect these investments in climate resilience. I also support a Carbon Fee and Dividend which would both reduce carbon emissions and make polluters pay.
Instead of giving billionaires tax cuts, Congress should be legislating to help the middle and working class. I’ve been fighting tooth and nail against the administration’s cuts to SNAP and Medicaid. I also believe in universal healthcare and childcare. The first step is giving insurance companies competition with a public option and doubling the Child Tax Credit. I also supported the largest housing affordability bill in Congress in decades that will make it easier for folks to buy a home.
Free and fair elections are fundamental to our democracy. I’m concerned with the possibility this Administration could attempt to overturn the election. That’s why I co-sponsor legislation like the John Lewis Voting Right Act and the Right to Vote Act which would protect Minnesotans’ access to the ballot box in November. We also must ban partisan gerrymandering in every state across the country and require independent commissions.
I grew up in a mobile home raised by a single mom. I had a career before politics. I got off the sidelines eight years ago because I saw Trump as a threat to our democracy. It’s because of my experiences that I take my duties as a representative seriously. The bare minimum is showing up — I’m proud of making 99% of votes in the House. I’ve passed 13 bills as a member of Congress. I believe you have to know when to throw a punch, and when to reach across the aisle and get something done.
Everything must be on the table to reform the Supreme Court. I’ve said this throughout my time in Congress and I will continue working to reform our federal court system in the Senate. It starts with introducing term limits and implementing an enforceable code of conduct, which I’ve been supportive of for all federal judges. And in the Senate, I won’t be a yes on any of Donald Trump’s court nominees.
My top priority is helping Minnesotans afford the lives they want to live. We’ve got to make Congress work for Minnesotans instead of corporations, billionaires, and special interests. That starts with banning corporate PAC money, overturning Citizens United, and establishing ethical standards for electeds so they represent their constituents. Second, I’ll fight for Medicare for All. Until we get there, I’ll fight to lower the cost of all prescription drugs, end prior authorization, and restore Medicaid cuts. Third, I’ll focus on affordability by raising the federal minimum wage, establishing universal childcare, investing in affordable housing, banning Wall Street from buying up homes, and fighting for the Social Security Expansion Act.
In America one good job should be enough. There are policies that I will fight for so that our economy works for everyone, not just those at the top: from raising the minimum wage to a national paid family leave policy, to government issued loans for small businesses and ensuring entrepreneurs aren’t paying more in taxes than giant corporations, to expanding the Child Tax Credit. All of these actions will put more money back in people’s pockets and ultimately strengthen our economy for all.
We need to take big actions to fight climate change, protect our planet, and invest in climate adaptation. I would restore Trump’s rollback of investments in clean energy and strongly support growth of our wind and solar energy sectors. We need to develop new technologies like biofuels including Sustainable Aviation Fuels, and green steel and green ammonia from green hydrogen. And we need to hold people and companies accountable when they refuse to comply with environmental standards.
I was raised by a single mom and always felt like the bottom could fall out. We relied on Section 8 housing, SNAP, childcare assistance, and Medicaid. I’m here because of these programs and am a testament to how government can work for people. That’s why I’ll fight to pass Medicare for All, raise the federal minimum wage, pass universal childcare, invest in affordable housing, give farmers the right to repair their own equipment, and fight to pass the Social Security Expansion Act.
The reality is that in Minnesota and across the country voter fraud is incredibly rare. What is at stake is people’s ability to participate in our election process which the Trump administration is actively trying to do. Minnesota has led the way in election protection and ensuring eligible voters can make their voices heard. I am proud of what our state has accomplished and believe we should replicate it on a national level with early voting and same day registration.
My job is to represent the voices of Minnesotans in Washington. I’m the only candidate in this race who made the choice not to take corporate PAC money because I refuse to be beholden to anyone but Minnesotans. Special interests have enough representation in the Senate, I will work only for the people. To represent folks, you have to show up and meet people where they are – you’ve got to listen. I’ve held over 270 events since launching this campaign and that’s exactly how I’ll keep showing up.
I support exploring all options to restore the trust in the role of the federal judiciary, especially the Supreme Court. Americans are losing trust in the Court’s ability to rule based on the law instead of politics, which undermines our Democracy.Recent stories of justices taking lavish trips paid for by wealthy donors further hurts the credibility of the Court. All options have to be on the table for Court reform, including a code of ethics, term limits, and adding seats to the court.
