To make housing more affordable, I support rent stabilization and strong tenant protections, along with expanding down payment assistance for first-time homebuyers.
I support ending the freeze on income-eligible childcare vouchers, expanding subsidies, and increasing support for childcare provided by friends, family, and neighbors.
I will support legislation to expand, decarbonize, and make public transit fare-free across the Commonwealth.
We have to tackle rising utility costs by breaking up monopoly power and holding companies like National Grid accountable for unjustified rate hikes.
My focus is simple: lower the cost of living, expand opportunity, and make sure working families can afford to live, work, and thrive in our communities.
I support strengthening Mass Save by expanding incentives for solar, non-emitting heating systems, and energy storage, helping residents save money through energy efficiency. I also oppose unnecessary new gas infrastructure and support ending wasteful fossil fuel spending, including reforms to GSEP so ratepayer dollars aren't spent replacing pipes that could be repaired more affordably.
Our clean energy transition must also create good union jobs. I support requiring prevailing wage, Project Labor Agreements, and Registered Apprenticeship participation on publicly funded clean energy projects, along with strong labor standards, local hiring, and just transition policies to ensure workers share in the benefits of a clean energy economy.
Healthcare should be affordable and accessible for everyone. I will fight to protect MassHealth from federal cuts by working to reduce Massachusetts' dependence on the federal tax code. I support creating a statewide single-payer healthcare system that guarantees coverage for every resident, as well as establishing a public option to give families, individuals, and small businesses an affordable alternative to private insurance.
I also support efforts to lower prescription drug costs and strengthen the healthcare workforce, including standing with home care personal care attendants (PCAs) who provide essential care for seniors and people with disabilities.
Communities should not have to rely on repeated Proposition 2½ overrides just to fund schools, public safety, libraries, and other basic services. That starts with raising fair and sustainable revenue by closing offshore tax loopholes, cracking down on corporate tax avoidance, ensuring the wealthiest residents pay their fair share, and supporting a more progressive tax system.
At the same time, we should reject regressive tax cuts that drain state revenues and shift the burden onto cities and towns. I also support helping municipalities increase Payments in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) from large nonprofit institutions so they contribute more fairly to the local services they rely on.
Free, fair, and secure elections are the foundation of our democracy, and Massachusetts must protect them from any political interference, whether from federal officials or other outside actors. My commitment to protecting democracy is deeply personal. My parents fought for democracy under Brazil's military dictatorship, and they taught me the power of organized people to defend their rights and institutions. I will support efforts to safeguard the independence and integrity of our elections while also expanding access to the ballot. That includes supporting same-day voter registration and other measures that make it easier for every citizen to participate in our democracy.
As an immigrant, I strongly support the Safe Communities Act, the PROTECT Act, and other measures that defend immigrant communities from unjust federal actions.
As a community organizer, I hosted forums featuring former immigration judge Dr. George Pappas, who left the bench rather than carry out unjust federal deportations. Today, he provides free legal representation to immigrants.
As a State Representative, I would work closely with local organizations to coordinate community responses, expand "Know Your Rights" trainings, support legal aid, and ensure immigrant families have access to trusted resources and protection.
I will continue fighting for policies that uphold justice, dignity, and opportunity for everyone who calls MA home.
