Per Florida State there are no education or specific experience mandates for most roles like governor, state legislatures or local offices, other than being a registered voter, resident of the relevant district, meet minimum age, and satisfy any filling/party requirements. I have met all my election filling requirements and am a fully qualified candidate per the Clay County Supervisor of Elections. I happen to possess both a BS and MS in engineering and a doctorate in business. I have completed four careers in my lifespan: from associate engineer to principal engineer; management analyst to director; international management consultant to vice president/partner within the private sector; and executive service in the federal government.

Clay County has long been designated a bedroom community and District 2 is even considered a suburb extension of Duval County. The high population influx into Clay County makes this stance unsustainable for our future. There must be an aggressive effort to attract business development projects to establish themselves in Clay County and contribute to our commercial tax base. Our public school system needs greater partnerships with the business community to ensure that expertise in electrical, mechanical, HVAC, etc. is providing a bench for a highly trained workforce. Yet Clay County Manager has kept operations lean and mean to the point that Clay’s total per capita tax levies are lower than our closest peers Alachua and Charlotte counties.
District 2 faces unique challenges that require a steady hand and a clear vision, particularly as we manage the rapid growth along the Blanding Boulevard corridor and the implementation of the First Coast Expressway. My extensive private sector and federal government executive leadership experience leverage me to tackle our district’s most pressing concerns: improving our aging infrastructure, ensuring our drainage and flooding issues are addressed with long-term solutions, and providing our law enforcement and first responders with the resources they need to keep our neighborhoods safe. I understand the delicate balance between encouraging economic development and preserving the distinctive character of our community.
