Oklahoma House District 9
Oklahoma's Legislature is composed of a Senate and a House of Representatives. There are 101 House districts and in 1991, terms of office were limited to 12 years.A member of the House of Representatives must be at least 21 years of age and must be a resident of the representative district. A candidate with a party affiliation must have been registered in that party in the district 6 months prior to the filing period. An Independent must have been a registered voter in the district for 6 months prior to the filing period. Representatives serve two-year terms.As Oklahoma is a closed primary state, only voters registered in the candidates' party will cast ballots in this primary election. The candidate with the majority of votes will appear on the ballot for the general election in November. If no single candidate has a majority, the two candidates with the most votes will head to a primary run-off election in August. Only voters registered in the candidates' party will cast ballots in this run-off election. The winner of the run-off election will appear on the ballot for the general election in November.

Serving people is a passion that I realized through volunteering and then through serving as a field rep. During my time as a US Senate field rep, I saw the need for a strong state government where small government gives more of a voice to the people. Both of these reasons are why I am seeking a state office.
People want to stay where they feel they serve a purpose and belong. Creating safe, affordable communities where great jobs can be found and quality of life amenities thrive, has shown over and over that is where young professionals want to be.
The focus on numeracy and literacy needs to continue to grow. I know there is a push to reform property tax however, we must be careful to protect the funding streams that make sure we can pay our obligations and move the needle ahead for public education.
Building a strong, diverse economy is imperative. Diversifying our industries and making sure that our current manufacturers are supported through Dept of Commerce programming as well as Oklahoma Manufacturing Alliance will help create a stable economy that can withstand whatever the national economy throws our way. Landing industry that is necessary for other manufacturing is also important.
