VOTE411 Voter Guide

Oklahoma Senate District 34

Oklahoma's Legislature is composed of a Senate and a House of Representatives. There are 48 Senate districts and in 1991, terms of office were limited to 12 years. A State Senator must be at least 25 years of age at the time of election, must be a resident of the district during the term in office and must have been registered in party in the same district for 6 months prior to the filing period. A Senator’s term is 4 years. As Oklahoma is a closed primary state, only voters registered in the candidates' party will cast ballots in this primary election. The candidate with the majority of votes will appear on the ballot for the general election in November. If no single candidate has a majority, the two candidates with the most votes will head to a primary run-off election in August. Only voters registered in the candidates' party will cast ballots in this run-off election. The winner of the run-off election will appear on the ballot for the general election in November.

Volunteer Service Elementary Coach at First Church Owasso, Summer Youth Quake Volunteer, and Kidfest Volunteer,
The single most important factor that influenced my decision to seek public office was seeing how many people felt ignored by their elected officials. As a small business owner and childcare provider, I talk with families, workers, and business owners every day. I repeatedly heard concerns about not being able to get answers, receive help, or feel represented.

That motivated me to run because I believe elected officials should be accessible, accountable, and actively engaged with the people they serve. Government works best when representatives listen to their constituents and respond to their needs.

I decided to seek office so our district would have a voice at the Capitol that is present, responsive, and focused on solving problems. My goal is to ensure the people of District 34 are heard and represented.
To keep and attract young professionals, Oklahoma must focus on opportunity, affordability, and quality of life. We need to support small businesses and entrepreneurs by reducing unnecessary regulations and making it easier to start and grow a business. We should also invest in workforce development, career and technical education, and partnerships between employers and schools so students can find good-paying jobs without leaving the state.

Housing affordability is another key issue. Young families and professionals are more likely to stay when they can afford to buy a home and build a future. We should also continue investing in infrastructure, public safety, and strong local communities that make Oklahoma an attractive place to live and work.

Most importantly, we must create an environment where businesses want to invest and create jobs. When good jobs are available and families can thrive, young professionals will choose to build their futures in Oklahoma.
Every Oklahoma child deserves access to a quality public education, regardless of where they live. I will support legislation that ensures education funding is directed to the classroom, supports teacher recruitment and retention, and provides schools with the resources they need to succeed.

I believe local parents, teachers, and school boards should have a strong voice in education decisions. We must reduce unnecessary mandates from Oklahoma City and allow communities more flexibility to meet the needs of their students.

I also support expanding career and technical education opportunities so students can graduate with the skills needed for good-paying jobs. Strong public schools are essential to Oklahoma's future, and I will work to ensure every child has access to a safe, effective, and high-quality education.
Oklahoma can better protect itself from national economic downturns by diversifying its economy. While energy and agriculture will always be important, we should continue attracting growth in manufacturing, technology, aerospace, logistics, and other industries. A broader economic base helps reduce the impact when any one sector slows down.

We must also support small businesses, which are the backbone of our economy. Reducing unnecessary regulations, keeping taxes competitive, and making it easier for entrepreneurs to start and grow businesses will create local jobs and strengthen communities.

Investing in workforce development, career and technical education, and infrastructure will help Oklahoma remain competitive and attract private investment. By encouraging business growth, developing a skilled workforce, and maintaining responsible fiscal policies, Oklahoma can build a stronger economy that is better prepared to withstand economic challenges.
