SPONGY MOTH SUPPRESSION RENEWAL AND INCREASE PROPOSAL

This millage proposal, if approved, would allow the County of Midland to restore the previously approved millage of 0.4, which was reduced by application of the Headlee Amendment’s required tax rollback to 0.3942 mills, and levy up to, but not more than 0.4 mills during the term.“For the purpose of continuing to monitor and suppress the spongy moth caused defoliation and nuisance by aerial spraying of B.T. (Bacillus thuringiensis) or other natural products, shall the County of Midland renew and increase previously voter approved amount of general ad valorem taxes which may be imposed for all purposes upon real and personal property in the County of Midland, as authorized by Article IX, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution of 1963, as amended, which has been reduced from 0.40 Mill ($0.40 per $1,000.00 of taxable value) to 0.3942 Mill ($0.3942 per $1,000.00 of taxable value) by the required rollback, up to the original voted 0.40 Mill ($0.40 per $1,000.00 of taxable value), and levied for the years 2027 - 2030, both inclusive, which if approved and levied in its entirety is estimated to raise $1,757,978.00 in the first year?”
