Monroe Charter Township Fire Department Millage Proposal
Shall the Charter Township of Monroe levy a fire protection millage of up to 2.0 mills ($2.00 per $1,000 of taxable value) to replace a fire protection millage that expired in 2025, notwithstanding the limitation on tax rates imposed by Article IX, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution, for a period of six (6) years, from 2026 through 2031, inclusive, for the purpose of providing funds for fire protection services, including capital improvements, operations, maintenance, training, safety, and the acquisition of fire and rescue vehicles and equipment for the Charter Township of Monroe Fire Department? If approved, this replacement millage is estimated to raise approximately $1.2 million in the first year of levy.
