Ada Township Parks, Recreation, and Land Preservation Millage Proposal
This proposal is for a new additional millage to replace a parks, recreation, and land preservation millage that will expire following the December 2026 levy that was first approved by voters in 2016 for 0.65 mills for ten years as reduced by application of the Headlee Amendment.Shall the total tax rate limitation on the amount of general ad valorem taxes which may be imposed on taxable property within Ada Township under Article IX, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution be increased in an amount not to exceed 1.2 mills ($1.20 per $1,000 of taxable value) annually for ten (10) years, 2026 through 2035 inclusive, to provide funds for constructing, equipping, operating, acquiring, and maintaining land, buildings, and improvements for parks, preserves and recreational facilities, and financing for any of these purposes; and shall the Township annually levy such new additional millage on taxable property within the Township for said purposes? If approved and levied, it is estimated that this millage would raise approximately $1,800,000 in the first year of the levy. To the extent required by law, a portion of the revenues from this millage will be captured within the district of, and disbursed to, the Ada Township Downtown Development Authority.
