Finance Type MCEA - Maine Clean Elections
Maine needs to grow its economy in sustainable ways. To do that we need to make our business environment in Maine such that Maine businesses can be competitive and export goods and services. One of the best things we can do to that end is to lower electricity rates. Creating a Co-op similar to Nebraska, and like the one on the ballot in 2023, is a good step in that direction. The Cost of living is affecting my district, and one of the things I propose, that will help that, is conforming to the IRS tax changes. That will lower the tax burden on working Mainers and leave more money in their pockets and our communities.
We need better planning at a State level. Whether it is environmental protections, economic development, or healthcare there is a lack of comprehensive planning. Right now Springvale is facing down a data center, a PFAS plant without the help of the State having set up rules and guidelines for their development. These are issues the State has been making laws about since 2021 at least, and we still do not have a comprehensive plan. Another issue. My District basically has only two health insurer networks. They pay into a virtual monopoly in the form of Maine Health. We need greater competition in healthcare to drive down costs. I have a proposal to increase competition with a fee on large businesses who do not provide health care.
I want voters to know that I am looking out for them. I am not pulled to the extremes by either party, which is why I am running as an unenrolled candidate. I am not impressed by corporate lobbyists. I do my own research, and put the work in to understand the situations facing us. Please reach out to me with any questions or concerns.
