Maine is our oldest and most rural state in our country, Maine is facing unique challenges in terms of older Mainers being able to age in place, affordable housing, our increasing ability to pay for heath care, and prescription medications. Our increasing threats to our environment with the Gulf of Maine warming 97% faster than any other body of water must assure we are protecting our planet for our kids and future generations. Protecting our beach and shoreline will not only protect our coast, it will also ensure a strong economy for our seasonal coastal community. Providing significant property tax relief is critical. While the legislature has taken great strides in this regard, there is more we can do. I have plan to do just that.
Living in a seasonal community we must provide incentives to offer year round opportunities to advance business, and expand our tax base for our municipality. Expanding housing opportunities to young families will entice new families coming into our community. Partnering with area businesses and school officials will be a tool to advance this expansion. Making sure that older Mainers can stay in their homes is a top priority for me. Continuing to protect our shoreline while addressing climate resiliency and restoring our dune grass and habitat is also a priority. Examining insurance for both businesses and property owners particularly with increasing storm events is essential. Ensuring our Veterans have the benefits they rightly deserve.
I am not a career politician. I like many, am just a hard working Mainer who has watched what is happening across our country and our state and am ready to step up to make an impact for the better. I have worked over 27 in healthcare and have seen first hand the broken system we have. I want to go to Augusta to make sure everyone can have affordable health care coverage. Our beach is a true gem which is why we chose to call OOB home. Protecting our shoreline is something I feel very strongly about. Fighting to protect our beach is a top priority as we must do our part for future generations. I have the time to commit to this position. I am dedicated to making our town our number one priority. I hope I will earn your vote.
