•Trump and his anti-democratic administration. •Meeting fundamental needs and making ends meet in a time of ever-increasing costs. •Planning for the future and finding real solutions to real challenges for real people in the midst of unprecedented external chaos, confusion, and cruelty.
Access to quality affordable housing is a particular challenge in one of the tightest real estate markets in the country. We live in one of most diverse, urban districts in a rural state. Balancing needs of residential neighborhoods—homes and schools for children and families—that are also a major social service center, economic hub, and tourist destination. Balancing diverse interests on Casco Bay, islands, and waterfront. Supporting seniors on fixed incomes trying to age in place in times of soaring costs.
I was raised by teachers in a small midcoast town, where I learned the meaning of integrity, hard work and service to others. My early career combined teaching students of all ages with various jobs on boats and the working waterfront. I am now raising a family in Portland, where I’ve lived for almost 20 years, working as a lawyer to improve outcomes for children, and serving as a volunteer leader with the East End Community School PTO and the Munjoy Hill Neighborhood Organization. I’m running for State House to help strengthen our community, ensure economic equity and affordability, protect our fundamental rights, and fulfill the promise of a better future for all my neighbors, especially the most vulnerable.
Bad education, problems for young people are the biggest issues. The economy is another problem. Social issues can discourage or radicalize young people. Fentanyl is another problem.
I want young people to launch successfully. I want education to be excellent again and not making girls go trans.
I am a libertarian and was a mathematician and philosopher.
