With no points for originality, affordability, expanding economic opportunity and protecting and strengthening civil rights. Affordability touches on the cost of housing, energy costs, health care and addressing food insecurity. New thinking about how electricity is generated and delivered, how housing is permitted and built, how health care services are delivered and how to ensure that all people have enough to eat is needed. Part of that is being creative and open to new economic opportunities in Maine. And all of this is happening under the cloud of the assault on civil rights coupled with the most corrupt federal administration ever.
Municipalities, and Portland in particular, need to find new ways to fund basic services such as education, public safety and public works that shares the burden on residents fairly according to means. HD 112, and the Portland area in general, also needs to find ways of increasing housing opportunities that both encourages creative projects and provides options for people of all income levels.
I fell in love with Maine as an 18 year old college freshman. My wife Jen and I have lived in Portland and Falmouth since 1997. I have served as a Town Councilor in Falmouth, been involved in youth athletics, served on a number of local and state boards and worked as an environmental attorney for almost 35 years. I have 3 children, all of whom went to Falmouth schools and all of whom hope to come back to Maine some day. I served in the United States Peace Corps (Sri Lanka) between college (Bowdoin College) and law school (University of Virginia). I am a die hard fan of the Portland Hearts of Pine soccer club and all of Boston's sports teams.
