I find too many Mainers are working hard, putting in long hours away from their own families and still struggling to afford the basics. Housing, groceries, electricity, gas, heating oil, and rising property taxes squeeze homeowners and renters. We need more housing that working families can afford and we need to make sure new development works for the neighborhoods around it. We need good paying jobs that pay enough to live here, and we need to find practical ways to lower cost without shifting the burdens onto someone else. My focus is on making Maine a place where families can afford to stay, children have the opportunity to thrive, and our communities remain safe.
Brewer depends on strong schools and reliable emergency services. I want to protect our investment in education and make sure firefighters, EMS crews, and police can respond when people need them. I will continue pushing for the state to meet its responsibilities to fairly fund the county jails so those costs do not keep falling on local property taxpayers. Plus, continue job training programs at EMMC and funding free community colleges around the state for Maine graduates to strengthen Maine’s economy and keep our young people in our communities. These are everyday concerns for Brewer residents, and they deserve the Legislature’s attention.
I am proud to represent Brewer, and I take the responsibility seriously. I am independent- minded, and I work hard to understand issues from all sides. I do not judge a bill by whether it was written by a Republican or a Democrat. I look at what the bill says and how it will affect the people of Brewer and the State of Maine. If it is a good bill, I support it. If it is a bad bill, I vote against it, regardless of which party introduced it. I have stood up and spoken out against members of my own party when I believed a bill was not good for Brewer, and I will continue to do so. My responsibility will continue to remain to the people I represent, not to a political party.
