Maine faces many interconnected challenges, from the skyrocketing cost of living to the harmful impacts of federal policies on our communities. Too many Mainers cannot afford housing, groceries, healthcare, or childcare. We must do more to support our unhoused neighbors and those struggling with substance use disorders. Jails and prisons are not substitutes for treatment, housing, or mental healthcare. Maine must invest in comprehensive, accessible wraparound services that help people stabilize their lives, recover, and thrive. Every Mainer deserves dignity, opportunity, and the support they need to build a healthy, secure future.
Our community has worked extensively to ensure the continued existence of the dams on Toddy Pond and Alamoosook Lake. Last legislative session, I was proud to sponsor several bills aimed at helping preserve these vital local resources while also addressing Maine’s broader dam infrastructure needs. I intend to bring this issue back before the Legislature in January because maintaining safe, sustainable dam infrastructure is critical to our communities. We also urgently need more affordable housing so that working families, young people, and longtime residents can afford to live and thrive in the communities they call home.
I am a dedicated, hard-working legislator who does not shy away from holding state agencies accountable. I am proudly in recovery from substance use disorders, and I bring that lived experience to my policy work and advocacy. I am also a single mom of three young children who love exploring the Maine woods and spending time on Blue Hill Bay. We live, work, and thrive in one of the most beautiful places on earth, and serving this community in the Maine House is one of the greatest honors of my life. I hope to continue that work for another two years.
